Heavy-Duty and Reliable — Just Measure First
This replacement cylinder is a beast—strong, sturdy, and a great value for the price. It was easy to install and instantly made my chair feel more solid and secure. The product claims to hold up to 1000 pounds, and it really does feel that strong. No wobble, no slow sinking over time like my old one. My wife comes into my office and i'm not worried to have her hop onto my lap. That said, I made the mistake of not measuring beforehand. I was using this on a Lazyboy executive chair, and the new lift was taller than expected. Now my knees bump into the underside of the desk, which was on me for not double-checking specs. I’ve since ordered a shorter one, but I’m saving this for another chair because the quality is excellent. If you need a tall, heavy-duty gas lift and have the space for it, this is a solid choice. Just be sure to measure your setup first!

An Excellent Replacement Part, but a Somewhat Difficult Job
I purchased this to repair an office chair that belongs to some good friends. They were ready to trash the chair, though it was in excellent shape except for the failed cylinder. There are minimal instructions included with this part, but there are a number of available YouTube videos showing how to remove the old cylinder (the hard part!), and how to install the new one. Once the old cylinder is removed, installation is a breeze. The inclusion of the gloves is a nice touch, though I didn't really need them. You will want to have access to a sturdy rubber mallet and a hammer, which are key to removing the old cylinder. The end result, however, is a good-as-new chair for under $25; a pretty good deal.

Easy to install, works great
Fit my chair, very secure and sturdy, the height was better than the gas cylinder that came with the chair. Take a look at the pictures included in the project description, install takes no time, just make sure you have a pipe wrench so you can unscrew you’re existing cylinder

Very impressive!!!
My chairs gas cylinder wouldnt hold the seat up if anyone sat on it. I tried a few "fixes" as I mainly wanted it at max height, which was already too low for me. My main fix was duct tape as it was suggested by some diy cylinder fix. This eventually stopped working.Getting my old cylinder off was EXTREMELY difficult. Replacing it with this one was extremely easy!! Just plop it in the old base, set the chair onto this new HOSALI gas cylinder and it was immediately good to go, sat perfectly in the based and tightly into the mounting hole nice and firmly, no wiggle. The chair now goes up BEYOND a point that even I, 6'0 with long lets, needs but I'm glad I bought this height for my chair in case I do ever need it higher. It also feels way smoother than the old cylinder when rotating in the chair. It glides very easily but stays where I want it.I am truly shocked that this replacement is better than any of the dozens and dozens of computer chairs I've used all my life. It feels luxurious, which feels strange to say about something so mundane!I'm planning on replacing the chair soon as its not very comfortable to begin with, but I know I'm keeping this cylinder for my next chair and not even installing the base model! It really is THAT much better.

Works better than OEM
Had to go onto You Tube to get instruction on removing chairs old hydraulic cylinder. Be advised if you remove cylinder the way I was forced to the old part will be unusable. The way I look at this conundrum is it’s already broke so it can’t be fixed.Take a regular ol” every day hammer and turn chair on side. Look at bottom of cylinder protruding out of the center of the base with wheels on. Hit the cylinder as hard as you can and drive it out. Chair will now be seat section and wheeled base. Now use the lever that is used to raise and lower sear and get the cylinder to fully extend. If that doesn’t work pull on cylinder and make it extend. Where cylinder enters chair base apply WD40 or a light oil at the area where the shaft enters seat base. GET PIPE WRENCH and grasp the shiny metal shaft. Turn the shaft, it will take a lot of pressure to get it to turn, Persevere! It will eventuallyStart to turn, add more oil if need be. Once loosened it will be easier to turn, just keep turning it till it comes out. Then install large black end into middle of chair base. Lift seat section up and slide shaft into bottom of seat assembly. Remember to slide the black plastic cylinders onto shaft before placing shaft in chair base. Now you have new office desk chair. Good luck I love this fix, as where can you get a desk chair for less than $25.

Better range of adjustability than the original. Holds position well.
I got this to replace a faulty cylinder on a Staples mesh office chair. The old cylinder would weep down over the course of about 20 minutes, forcing me to raise myself back up many times per day. I considered getting a new office chair, but aside from the faulty cylinder, this chair is still in great condition and is very comfortable. At first I ordered one that was too tall. It wouldn't let me adjust the chair so that my feet would touch the floor. So I bought this one instead. This one is a bit taller than the original cylinder, but I never needed the chair to be really low so that's fine. This one does allow the chair to be adjusted much taller than the old cylinder. The old one needed to be all the way up for the chair to be at a comfortable height and with this one the best height is about halfway up which is great!Since I was going to be performing surgery on my chair, I also ordered a set of polyurethane double wheels for it and I love them too! I will never use plastic wheels on an office chair anymore. These poly wheels are super nice.Overall, I turned my mediocre but comfortable office chair into a super-nice, smooth, adjustable chair that holds its height. So far I am very happy. Will it last? Time will tell. I expect run-of-the-mill chair cylinders probably last about three or four years, but my Herman Miller Aeron cylinder is probably 20 years old and still works fine.If your office chair cylinder is failing and you like your chair otherwise, then get this one. You won't be disappointed!!
