Marantz Professional MPM-2000 | Cardioid Condenser Microphone with Pop Filter, Shock Mount, & Carry Case (34mm / XLR Out)

The sound quality of this microphone is amazing. I use it for singing, and I can sing at the top of my lungs directly into it and it doesn’t clip. It can also pick up super quiet sounds. The range of this microphone is great for singing. Another huge plus is that the diaphragm is acoustically isolated from the XLR jack, so hitting the cable produces very little noise.As with all condenser microphones, this will pick up distant and quiet sounds, but it does a much better job at isolating sound in the cardioid pattern than other condenser microphones I’ve used. If you’re looking to record yourself gaming, only buy this if you want the sound from your keyboard and mouse to be picked up.One thing to note if you are buying this microphone is that it requires phantom power. You need to use an audio interface that can supply 48 volt phantom power to the XLR jack. I use a Yamaha MG06 mixer plugged into a USB interface, and it works great. If you are just getting into high end audio recording, you should look up the requirements for using XLR condenser microphones, as they are different than XLR dynamic microphones.

I'm really happy with this mic, it sounds amazing running through my GoXLR, which yes is totally powerful enough to drive this mic. The sound quality is really awesome, obviously there isn't incredible noise cancellation but that is expected from a condenser.If you get close enough to the mic it picks up everything, deep bass and high highs. Just keep in mind, don't expect amazing bass if you are more than like 5 inches away from it (or not looking at the mic). It still works fine for live streaming though which was my primary reason for getting it.

Microphone packaging was amazing. The 2000 is very nice and well designed microphone. Sadly I did not receive an XLR cable with my microphone. I am not entirely sure if the 2000 or any of the other mics for that reason are supposed to come with an XLR cable but mine did not shop with one in the box. While I like the mic and am not entirely sure if I was suppose to get an XLR cable with it, that is not why I am knocking a star off of it.The Shock mount that comes with the mic is nice, but it is also very weak. I have a small mic stand arm that I attached this mic to and it could barely hold it in position correctly because the holder for the shock mount just does not screw tightly when you try attaching it to any mic stand or arm.Overall happy with the mic, just wish it was posted in more than one place that this mic does or does not come with an XLR cable. ( Again not the main reason why I knocked a star off )

I have to say I'm Very impressed with this unit the 2000. It really has a gold diaphragm of 32mm and seems to be a K-67 Capsule so much that I ordered another. The electronics are real 1/4 watt resistors not the sub ones on a very nicely etched board. The Basket is all metal and heavy as is needed. The pop filter is perfect and its mount is just right. Great case and best of all a wonderful sound that mimics some mics I have that cost 5 to 10 times as much. Very nice.

If you are just getting into vocal art or instrumental recording this is a great mic. It is very robust in design and build quality with very ample pick up of sound. This microphone give a very reflective and open sound so be sure to use acoustical materials where setting up. If you are looking for a live clear sound in your voice or guitar this is the one for you.

I have had many many studio mics. This one is an exceptional mic. I think the sound quality is very good. And what is even better is the price. I have been using it for quite a few weeks and it has performed flawlessly.

I never owned audio equipment from Marantz so I was a bit nervous when ordering this. I'm an audio engineer, producer, and artist. When I started using the mic I noticed right away that it required a lot of input gain from my Presonus audiobox usb. It picked up a lot of noise around my room, then again my room is not acoustically treated and is very spacious. Simply all I had to do was go into my audio software (Fl Studio is what I use) and denoise my recordings which helped a whole lot. The vocals sound okay. Lack of low end but with the right equalizer settings you can fix it and excite the vocal a bit. With singing, this mic can not hold a pitch. I'm sorry to disappoint you singers but it picks up way too much vibrato in the voice and totally throws off any pitch correcting software. I've tried fixing pitch with a couple VST plugins: Waves Tune and Antares Autotune. Both high end pitch correcting software. It helps to raise the volume near -4 to -3db but you need to have your compressor perfect so it doesn't clip because this thing without a compressor will clip at 0db and be all distorted like there's no tomorrow. Overall, if you were to do podcasts, talk on Skype, Rap, or use this mic for non pitched activities, it's very good. I'll most likely use this mic for communicating with my artists from outside the vocal booth so they don't have to keep coming out of the room to talk to them.

The self noise is not as low as Rode but the price is also much less and for the price the quality is amazing. Worth it even for ASMR, which is what I also use my pair for~

Debo decir que el micrófono no lo he usado aún para overheads, pero lo he utilizado para voces femeninas con lo que funciona perfectamente, si lo quieres usar para voces masculinas probablemente no será el más adecuado, el micrófono lo vale si lo consigues en menos de 2000

Für meinen Literaturkanal auf YouTube, für den ich im Heimstudio Hörbücher produziere, benötigte ich nach Jahren mit einem eher mäßigen Samson G-Track USB-Mikrofon einen neuen Schallfänger und bin, entgegen dem YT-Trend zu Mikros der Marke Rode, auf Marantz verfallen, die ich noch aus den Tagen der HiFi-Türme kannte und wegen ihrer brillanten Tonqualität schätzte. Es schien einen Versuch wert es mal mit einem Mikrofon dieser Marke zu versuchen. Zunächst hatte ich das Bändchenmikrofon MPM 3500R im Sinn, aber als ich es kaufen wollte hatte der Anbieter und sehr nachhaltig der Preis sich geändert und so fiel meine Wahl auf das MPM 2000. Ich betreibe es derzeit an dem DR-60D MKII Recorder von Tascam und meine Bewertung setzt diese oder eine vergleichbare Kombination voraus.Gleich vorweg sei eines angemerkt: hochwertiges Equipment fängt deutlich mehr des umgebenden Schallteppichs ein als billige Gerätschaften, und so hört man zuvor nie bemerkte Hintergrundgeräusche plötzlich sehr deutlich. Die Heizung stellte ich schon bisher während der Aufnahmen ab und es hat sich erwiesen, daß auch der Kühlschrank auf kleinster Stufe weniger Geräusche von sich gibt als in einer höheren Kühlstufe. Nach solchen Störquellen zu suchen aber lohnt sich, denn was das MPM 2000 (in Kombi mit dem Tascam) an Eigenrauschen produziert liegt unterhalb meiner Hörschwelle und ist auch ohne Angabe von Zahlen überzeugend in dieser Preisklasse.Das Marantz kommt in einem hübschen Aluköfferchen daher, in welchem das MPM 2000 sicher aufbewahrt ist und es auf diese Weise vor sich stehen zu haben und auszupacken hat auch was für's Auge. Das darf man ruhig als angenehm empfinden. Im Lieferumfang befinden sich nur das Mikrofon selbst, der Popschutz, die Spinne und ein Adaptergewinde für dessen Stativaufnahme. Ein XLR-Kabel ist ebenso extra zu bestellen wie ein Stativ. Schade eigentlich, zumindest beim Kabel, denn ein solches mit Marantz Label aufgedruckt oder geprägt wäre wirklich ein würdiger Eyecatcher in dem Köfferchen. Einen Punktabzug aber ist mir das dann doch nicht wert.Die Montage geht dank sauberer Verarbeitung problemlos und rasch vonstatten und was ich als Hörbuchsprecher vor mir stehen habe wirkt schon auch sehr edel, kein Nachteil bei stundenlangen Aufnahmesessions.Nun zur (subjektiv empfundenen) Tonqualität. Ich wollte ein Mkrofon mit einem möglichst harmonischen, weichen Klang, daher zunächst mein Wunsch nach dem Bändchenmikro des Herstellers, aber ich kann nach einigen Stunden die ich inzwischen mit dem MPM 2000 Aufnahmen produziert habe nur das beste darüber sagen. Weder wirken die tieferen Töne aufgepeppt oder gar wie aus einem Kompressor, noch zischeln die Hochtöne die Aufnahme kaputt (wenn man mal die richtigen Einstellungen gefunden hat). Meine Zuhörer sollen meine Stimme so hören wie sie ist und genau das leistet das Marantz MPM 2000 nach meiner Ansicht so gut wie man das in dieser Preisklasse erwarten kann (und so weit dies sich für Uploads auf YouTube, das bislang keine verlustfreien Formate bereitstellt, überhaupt als hörbar erweist).Im direkten Vergleich mit dem Rode NT1a, das mir in einer wenig gebrauchten Version zur Verfügung steht, würde ich dem Marantz den Vorrang geben, obschon das Rode ein durchaus ebenbürtiges Mikrofon darstellt, aber vielleicht liegt es ja auch daran, daß dieses neu rund 20 €uro mehr kostet und kein hübsches Köfferchen mit Logo drauf dabei ist.Noch ein Wort zum Popschutz. Ob der ausreicht oder nicht kann schon auch davon abhängen wie man sich vor dem Mikrofon bewegt. Da ich beim lesen immer mehr oder weniger dieselbe Körperhaltung innehabe (außer vielleicht beim sprechen bestimmter Charaktere) sieht der Popschutz mit dem Markenlogo nicht nur hübsch aus, er ist auch völlig ausreichend. Bei Vlogs oder beim Livestreaming via Twitch & Co mag ein größerer Popschutz aber womöglich sinnvoll erscheinen. Auch das ist mir aber nur einen Hinweis wert, keinen Punkteabzug.Wie es mit der Haltbarkeit des Mikrofons und Zubehörs beschieden ist läßt sich natürlich nur wenige Wochen nach dem Kauf nicht seriös beurteilen. Sollte es hier Grund zur Kritik geben werde ich diese Rezension dementsprechend updaten. Unangenehm, bzw. verwirrend aufgefallen ist mir letztlich nur die Produktbeschreibung hier bei Amazon, wird das MPM 2000 doch allen Ernstes als USB-Mikrofon angepriesen, und ich hätte es deswegen beinahe ungeöffnet wieder zurück geschickt.Fazit.Für meine Anwendung empfinde ich die in das Marantz MPM 2000 investierten 137 €uro als perfekt angelegtes Geld und würde es jederzeit wieder kaufen. Transportkoffer, Mikrofon, Popschutz und Spinne sind gut verarbeitet und wirken hochwertig. Die Aufnahmen (im Kombination mit dem Tascam DR-60D MKII) klingen klar und harmonisch. Der mit Schriftzug versehene Popschutz ist funktional und stylish und selbstverständlich trägt auch der Koffer den Schriftzug "Marantz". Aus meiner Sicht ein das Geld wertes Mikrofon, das ich durchaus (unter den genannten Bedingungen) empfehlen kann und gerne mit verdienten 5 Sternen bewerte.

En comparación con otros micros de precios mucho más altos no deja nada que desear, tiene un énfasis en el rango sobre los 1000Hz lo que potencia la claridad y el brillo, haciendo de éste un magnífico micro para voces. y aunque no posee patrones polares ni high pass filter (hpf), la membrana capta el sonido con una nitidez magnífica. muy recomendable.
