The UNIDEN R4 Extreme Long-Range Laser/Radar Detector is one of the best radar detectors I’ve used, offering excellent performance, reliable alerts, and plenty of features to keep you aware of speed traps and law enforcement presence on the road. Its extreme range and accuracy make it a must-have for anyone who spends a lot of time on the highway. Pros: Incredible long-range detection: The standout feature of the UNIDEN R4 is its exceptional long-range detection. It consistently picks up radar and laser signals well in advance, giving me plenty of time to adjust my speed. Even on wide, open highways, this detector can pick up signals from several miles away, which has saved me from speed traps more times than I can count. Accurate and reliable alerts: The R4 provides highly accurate alerts with minimal false alarms. It does a great job filtering out unnecessary alerts from automatic door sensors and other non-threat sources, which is often a problem with cheaper detectors. The advanced filtering technology ensures you get alerted only when it matters, keeping the ride smooth without constant beeping from false signals. I tried several detectors, even much more expensive ones. The R4 is my choice. It’s small and good looking, upgraded tech has great range and filters out the garbage signals automatically or manually and is especially good blocking aggravating trash signals coming for other cars. And when it does get a legit threat it’s on it a mile away. Other detectors have arrows, and that would be nice, but those can give off confusing signals. With the R4 range you soon get where you can tell by the signal pattern if the threat is in front, rear, or to the sides, (and the threat sounds are just cool.) This little baby is solid, huge memory for storing mutes, will itself recognize and store a false threat location after a few passes, will pretty much be quiet as a mouse until approaching a real threat. At that point the direction is not as relevant as slowing down anyway. I live in a section that uses Ks and Kas, didn’t know this till R4 educated me, so I can’t turn off the K band, but my R4 will not sound a signal from another car like I found that others do. I don’t speed much but I will get liberal with the speed limit sometimes, and that has cost me hundreds in the past With the R4 you really feel like you have and R2D2 on your side.

This is an excellent unit that replaced my 9 year old Cobra. This Uniden greatly reduces (not perfect) false alerts and detects radar 1-2 miles away. Expensive, but well worth it 👍

Incredible detector. Detects from very far away. I live in New Jersey so it's completely legal and I have nothing to worry about there. I love the mute memory function because there are a lot of school zone speed signs around my house. It's also very helpful when driving around shopping centers. I have had it for almost 3 months now and it has saved me 2 or 3 times already. I definitely have a heavy foot. I hardwired mine to my 12V "cigarette lighter" fuse and it works like a charm. I mounted it on my windshield above my dashcam on the passenger side of my rearview mirror. It's set up perfectly so that it appears right next to the mirror so it's easy for me to look at. My passengers also tell me it doesn't block their view at all since it's so compact.

Radars are near or far, it alerts you, so it does its job... Only weird thing I found is it came with a generic suction cup mount and a high quality suction cup with a level which will NOT fall off at all, but whatever. I hooked it up to my PC, downloaded the update tool and updates which took all of 2 minutes, went smooth as butter. It was nice to see that you can also completely configure every setting from your PC and even save the settings on your PC in case you ever need to reset it for whatever reason. Nice little touch. This thing picks up cops from literally a mile away if not more and it does fantastic at auto-ignoring the false alarms. You literally just have to.... SET IT, AND FORGET IT! lol had to. I would recommend this and I am glad I did my research and chose this one. The only thing I would like which I know costs more, would be arrows but I only wanted a midrange because I don't really speed (only when others are speeding on the highway) and this is more than good enough for me and probably 90% of you. CON: Only one con for me. There is no native app even though it has bluetooth which is rather odd but, it does work with at least one particular app called "highway radar" but me being an IT guy still found setting it up very cumbersome and honestly I don't even use the app. I mean I have Waze on my car screen, the detector, so one more thing to look at is too many in my opinion so the bluetooth honestly seems useless. If they had their own app like Cobra does, it would make more sense. I guess not so much a con, but it's just odd, why have bluetooth at all? Maybe for dash cams? I honestly don't know.

Range is very good, the interface could be a wee bit better, but only because I'm not used to it I suppose. After using this for over a year, I can say the range is fantastic, bordering on crazy it is as so sensitive. ON a straight road this will easily go out a mile, and even on Oregon curvy forest hwy's it picks up incredibly well...So well my wife stole it from me for her truck and I have to buy another. As far as the "buttons" go, when mounted on the windlshield you can't really see them, but I suspect all will have the same problem if you have a vehicle with a steeply sloped windshield.

I’ve had this for more than a year and feel it’s absolutely amazing! It works fine out of the box but if you take a moment and go through the settings and turn off the K band you almost eliminate any false alarms from store alarms. This is 100% accurate and it picks up a single five miles away. It warns you to slow down way before they even know your coming. I feel the R4 is the best bang for your buck it has all the features of the more expensive units at half the price, less the directional arrows showing were the signal is coming from. But that doesn’t really matter because you were warned to slow down!

This R4 has saved me countless times. Forget the other Unidens, this is all you need;it really works that well! Have been using and discarding radar detectors since the first ‘fuzz buster’, purchased from Crazy Eddie.The R4 is simply too good to be true.Buy it!
