How does this even work? nothing happens when i pull the trigger, am i supposed to purchase some sort of air source separately? if so, which one?

Everything works and I don’t have to buy anything else

I realize it comes with 2 converters for different thread sizes, but I was wondering if there is an advantage in using different thread sizes?

Possibly because of the needle valve assembly.

what size is the buisness end's threading?

It uses a 1/4inch NPT male thread.
