I have been a New balance user for 20+ years ...
I have been a New balance user for 20+ years. The 1012 was my shoe of choice and I had no issues with blisters and foot comfort in spite of the fact I train and run marathons. Based on the fact that the 1340 was the "replacement" shoe for the 1012, I purchased a pair. I immediately started having edge blisters on my forefoot and after many different attempts at different remedies (different socks, tape, blister pads etc) I decided to go back to my old pair of 1012's. No blisters, no hot spots when I trained or ran marathons. They are beaten down so I looked at the shoes foot bed to foot bed comparison and the 1012's are MUCH wider than the 1340's even though the sizes are the same. I can use my 1st pair of 1340's for short runs but went with another size -wider- for long runs and have found them back to the comfort level and no blisters thus far. Why manufacturers mess with the sizes of their shoes baffles me.

Only Good Motion Control and Cushioning Shoe New Balance Sells
A great shoe that's not as good as the last generation it replaced. Its a narrower fit with less arch and toe room than prior motion control shoes I have purchased from New Balance. I like the toe box roomy and New Balance seems to not be able to keep their last standards in place. They keep changing. I do wear the shoes everyday and they are comfortable and just big enough for me to use. I hate the location of the top holes which I cannot use to cinch my ankle because the tongue is to short. In older model shoes the top holes were forward and lower on the tongue so they were of more value.I purchased at a discounted price and own two pairs so I am happy for now. I don.t like the new glued top shoes New Balance is making . I bought a pair and sent them back then bought this shoe.

Favorite pair of shoes yet
Running shoes seem very personal, so I'll share my history in case you've liked the MR1012 and are considering changing lasts to the SL-1. I've worn The New Balance SL-2 last for several years now because other shoes were far too narrow in the forefoot and were compressing my toes. I've gone through 10-20 pairs of 1011's and 1012's now but decided to try a couple new models because I had difficulty finding the 1012 on Amazon. I've tried an MR840, M587 and the 1340, all in size 102E, the same as my 1012's. The 840 fit well but I have developed, possibly unrelated, some heal stiffness that never occurred with the 1012 (could just be age related too). The 587 doesn't fit as well as any of the others. I would not recommend that model for running if you have had good experience with the 1012. The 1340 in a wide fits perfectly - it is neither too tight nor too loose anywhere. I do not have the cavernous space around my forefoot that I enjoyed with the 1012, but my toes do not feel compressed either. I will have to give it a months too make sure a few distance runs don't cause toe damage and too see if the stiffness in my heal goes away. But, so far I like the fit of this shoe.

Really good shoe.
I already have a pair of these and they are great for me. Good padding and support. Learned long ago to try to hang on to running shoes that I like because the minor annual changes companies make can really change a shoe for me. As a result, I usually try to get a couple of extra pair after the price drops and before they disappear completely. That is the case for this purchase. The only problem with my original pair was that part of the sole on the front of the right shoe came loose and I had to fix it with Shoe Goo (worked great). More than likely was my fault for using them with my motorcycle a few times.Good shoes, support, comfortable, and breath well.

Second pair, love these!
Second time I've bought this pair of shoes, first time was at full price from a specialty shoe store. Was worth the price then, was worth the price even more when Amazon had them for half what I paid the first time. Lasted 2 1/2 years with daily wear in every weather situation imaginable. They breath really well, so in the summer they're great, but in the winter you want to upgrade your socks if you live above the 48th parallel. Hoping to buy this exact same pair in another 2 1/2 years.

Great shoe
My husband loves these shoes. This is his second pair. I was so happy to find again and got the last pair in his size. I do think however they were a bit overpriced. The reviews for the shoe that replaces this shoe says the new shoe isn't as well made or as comfortable as this one. My husband's only complaint was that his first pair wore through in the toe fairly quickly.

Worth the money
I have been very pleased with the 1340 so far. I have tried the 1080 and the 870 so far. I can see a definite improvement in quality of materials as the numbers go up. The M1340 is a little heavier, but that is all coming from the solid sole of the shoe that is giving excellent correction for flat footedness. The heel of the shoe is a big improvement over the 1080. That was my only complaint with the 1080 is the heel material was weak and gave way too soon. I suspect the 1340 will last me much longer.

VERY comfortable shoe
I have purchased NEW BALANCE shoes for over fifteen years and had been VERY satisfied with my purchases until about 5 years ago. Then, I purchased shoes with the model numbers in the 700's and 800's and recently a MX1012 that I found to be rather stiff at first but is now breaking-in nicely. However this M1340 was super-comfortable and supportive right from the start. Highly recommended. The only thing I would now seek is some of those segmented shoe laces that don't untie on their own

Like colorado hiker has already pointed out
Like colorado hiker has already pointed out, New Balance used to make great shoes - back in the 80's,90's and early 00's.Over the last 35 years I have used over 30 pairs of running shoes and the last great shoe was the NB854 which could best be described as a part support/part motion control shoe. My last pair lasted over 500 miles. Since then the quality has deteriorated - partly an obsession with making lighter shoes (?) and partly the decision to move manufacture from UK/USA to China. I have got through a number of shoes since -NB860 v2/v3/v4 and NB1260 v2/v3 - and none have lasted more than 300 miles. As a consequence I have started using Brooks Adrenaline as my alternate shoe and they do appear better made and more supportive though mileage, whilst better, is not impressively better. So to my review of the NB1340 v2. This is the closest I have come so far to replicating the NB854 with its plastic insert in themedial post to provide a more supportive transition from heel to toe. As with all motion control shoes you have to sacrifice weightas they can be quite heavy. OK if you are a heavy runner (180 lbs +) but if you are lighter like me (<150 lbs) then this is morenoticeable. What I have discovered though with the NB1340v2 is that the insole is over 3x the weight of all my other New Balanceinsoles. So by swapping over I can reduce the shoe weight (for a size UK11) to below 400 gms - only 10 gms heavier than myNB860 v4 - plus you get a free pair of plush insoles for your day-to-day shoes ! To early to assess longevity but I live in hope of something over 300 miles. I'll return to this review in a couple of months and update progress. Finally a plea - please New Balance return to making the great shoes of yesteryear or I fear I may end up becoming a full time Brooks convert.

Excellent trainers and seem very sturdy and well made for long distance running. My only gripe is that despite all of the various layers in the sole, they are quite firm and not as light and bouncy on the foot (over shorter distances at least!) than my existing NB 480v4's. I suspect these will last longer and give more ankle support over a good distance though!Decision to make as to which ones to wrar for this years Great North Run!? #DOH :-/

Well cushioned long distance running shoe for the sturdy athlete.....
Very well padded, great cushioning (similar to Hoka), generous American fit. No complaints but using a few liners to reduce some of the volume. If your a big (heavy) runner these would be perfect

Molto stabili
Scarpa adatta a corse lunghe e per corridori pesanti; molto stabile e ammortizzata. Prima avevo le NEW BALANCE 1223 (insuperabili) queste quasi allo stesso livello.

Yo no sé cómo hacerlo
