Easy to install, excellent stuff

Installation using the HomeKit app was very easy and straightforward the physical installation was also easy, please note that if you plan to use voice control from Google Home it will require a pin and it’s not clearly mentioned anywhere, you cannot manually tap to open from the Google Home app you can only use voice commands.from the Apple HomeKit app you can tap to open and uses voice commands with no pinAnother cool feature from the Meross app that it notifies you every time the gate is opened or closed

Very easy to link to my Apple HomeKit and then in the Meross native app.The installation was super easy after I got power to the right area. Super easy to install on my current garage opener and I had it connected and working within an hour.

Guess this is build for Alexa cause have tried numerous times to add to apple home but “accessory is not responding” happens as soon as the setup is complete.

Best garage opener. Highly recommended if you are using Apple home.

Bought this product to automate the Hormann garage doors and I must say my expectations were more than exceeded.Pros:1. Good price point. Not incredibly cheap but not exorbitantly expensive too.2. Can be installed with basic DIY skills. Hiding the sensor/magnet cable took the longest (about 10 minutes) which shows how less the time it will take for the unit installation.3. Integration with Smartthings and IFTTT to create routines & automations. Practically every other device on the market provides integration with Alexa but very few or rather none extend integration with ST and/or IFTTT for free (Sonoff, I am looking at you).4. 'Voice Passcode' provides additional security to prevent strangers opening the garage door using Alexa. This is super important as I had to return a garage opener by another manufacturer because I was concerned that neighbours or even strangers on the street who invariably hear us using alexa to open the garage might misuse it.5. Ability to check status of the garage door on the app (open/closed) and pop-up notifications when the status changes. This has saved me some money as otherwise I would have had to buy a separate door sensor.6. 'Overtime Reminder' informs you via the app if the door has been open for more than 10 minutes. This is a life saver as many times in the past when I closed the garage door and drove away, the door would stop halfway due to some obstruction for example rubbish bin and I wouldn't know about it until I return at the end of the day.7. Other features like 'Overtime Close' which will automatically close the door if open for longer than a set time, 'Fixed Time Close' which will automatically close the door at a set time of the day- although not used by me are definitely handy and useful.8. This ability to control the garage door via the app or via voice also solves the problem of locking oneself out of the house and having no access to a spare key. My wife and I have been stranded out many times in the past and for security reasons we were not keen on installing a safe lock with a spare key.Cons:1. The Meross Smart Garage Door Opener uses the Wifi to connect rather than Zigbee. Although none is superior over the other, I am not a big fan of overloading my Wifi traffic.2. Although this device integrates with Alexa, you cannot set Alexa automations with Meross as this option is not available. This is a major drawback as Alexa automations are brilliant, for example, announcement through all Amazon Echos if the garage door has opened. The fallback is to use ST which in my opinion is useless and does not provide choices like Alexa. You can of course use the Meross app but then you can automate with only other Meross products which I do not have.3. Despite this device being great on paper, and its key security features (see pro's above), it really does not add much to making life easier. When leaving the house, the amount of time it takes me to ask Alexa to unlock the door and feed the passcode is definitely longer than just pressing the physical Hormann remote button in the car. Not to mention, bellowing at Alexa to open the garage door at night makes you very self conscious. Similarly, when returning home, you have to either use the Meross app on the phone or the Hormann physical remote to open the garage door. I prefer the physical device over the app.4. The full potential of the Meross garage opener cannot be realized in the UK yet. Once Amazon allows Meross garage opener to be used for automation and when Amazon releases other Alexa features like geofencing in the UK (currently available in the US), the Meross garage opener would be a great smart home device. Alternatively, you can buy an Amazon Echo Auto to give commands from the car but this will set you back by another £50 quids.5. Confusingly, there are 2 Alexa skills for this device. The 'Smart Meross' allows you to say 'Open/Close Garage Door' but foolishly has a 2 step process i.e. first you ask Alexa to open the Smart Meross skill and then ask the Smart Meross to open or close the garage door. If you add the voice passcode, then there are 3 steps in total which will drive me to the edge of sanity. The 'Meross' skill on the other hand uses just one command but you have to say 'lock/unlock' instead of 'open/close'. I find this superbly inefficient and retrograde from a company this good and popular.All in all, I totally recommend the Meross Smart Garage Door Opener if you are a smart home enthusiast like me. At the moment, I like the security features of this device over its smart home capability, as the latter is something I am sure will come to pass in the UK sooner or later.
