Great prep book for NCLEX!
I don't typically take the time to write reviews, even if I like the product, however, I was so impressed with this book that I felt it necessary. A large part of why I purchased it was because of all the positive reviews over the years. I was concerned that this book might be considered 'dated' given the publication date, but when I started reading reviews from the past two years that still raved about it, I wanted to give it a try!I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone prepping for NCLEX. I debated about taking the actual HURST review, which I know comes highly recommended, but couldn't rationalize the cost. This book was such an easy read - much like if you are sitting in a lecture environment and she is giving you a review herself. Personally, I felt that the major chapters took no time at all to get through - there are a significant amount of questions broken down by content/category correlated with the NCLEX breakdown. Honestly, I didn't even get through all these and what was on the CD-ROM, but they were incredibly helpful, mostly because of the rationales.I took the NCLEX and passed the first time with only 77 questions - this was the only "studying" that I did. I hope you are as happy with this book as I was!

A MUST HAVE!
This book is the reason I passed the NCLEX on the first try. You say who cares. Here is the whole point....I passed THREE years after I graduated nursing school and did not work in the nursing field. I only received the minimum NCLEX questions and PASSED on first attempt. I had text anxiety all through nursing school and after reading this book I was able to relax and follow its guidelines on every question. This is not a book that is teaching you pathophysiology (Hurst has a book for that too that I also bought but just read sections I was weak in) or that sort. It is a book that teaches you how to read NCLEX questions. (Think like a NCLEX writer) I believe that without reading this book I would not have been successful. Very easy to read and fun. Not another boring college book!!

Highly recommend!!!
I failed the NCLEX the first time and was devastated. I had gotten all 265 q and really underestimated what the test would be. I read some recommendations so I purchased this book. Completely worth it! I read the book cover to cover and did all the practice questions in the book but didn't get time to do the CD that was included. I went in on the first day I was eligible to retake and the computer stopped at around 150 q. I feel like a good portion of the test were questions that were very similar to the ones in the book. And the ones that weren't, the book gave a great way to break down that was easy (who is going to die first?-- not necessarily ABC) I passed and I feel like this book was the reason!

I like this book, but buy the Lippincott NCLEX 10,000 instead
I am right in the middle of nursing school and studying to take a HESI test and think this book will help me study for my finals. I like her notes on the side and the chapter titled "Cool charts you just have to know" is very concise.I edited my initial comment because the disk that comes with the book did not work and I e-mailed Hurst about this issue. They do not stand behind the book and told me that there was nothing they could do about it and I should consider taking their review. I don't have an extra $350 around while I am a student and would have appreciated a more helpful response.I will not purchase Hurst materials in the future. I would recommend spending your money on the Lippincott NCLEX 10,000. They are questions and the quizzes can be taylored to your individual needs!

Worth it for the "need to know" pages! And an NCLEX RN tip.
I found the "need to know" pages a great help in studying for the NCLEX. My school gave us the Hurst live review and I attended 3 days of a woman reading PowerPoint lectures with bits of interesting videos thrown in here and there. Pure Torture! The information in this book was better than the boring Hurst live review in my opinion. I was surprised that the information in this book and the information from the live review were so different. If you are going to take the NCLEX RN and can only buy one book - my professional opinion is to purchase the Saunders NCLEX review and do every chapter, every question, and every test!

Helped me pass my NCLEX
Used this book to study for my NCLEX-RN test and I passed the first time. This was so helpful to go through and answer practice questions and then understand the reasoning for the answer. I was able to understand why each answer was better than the other choices. Being able to practice with this book made me feel more confident when I went to take my NCLEX.

Great book but some major issues
I will first say that this book is fantastic for testing strategies and understanding exactly what the NCLEX is looking for in your answers. However there are a few issues with misinformation. One example is in the drug review, where the book states that the antidote for sedatives (Ativan, Valium, Ambien etc) is Narcan. There are a few other examples but for the most part the information is good. Just be weary.

Very good buy!
Really loved the way Aunt Marlene wrote the book (easy to read). I used Kaplan during school & failed the NClex my 1st go-around. I heard from my friend that Hurst is the way to go. The reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because of the way the practice tests & answers were displayed in the book- I wished they were separate (it was difficult to cover the answers).

Great
I used this textbook to study for NCLEX in Canada, I found this book extremely useful and concise. This is one of the few books I recommend to have if you want to pass NCLEX on your first try. A lot of NCLEX books out there fail to point out the MUST KNOW info, but this book has this info summarized and presented in a way that makes you remember.P.S. I passed NCLEX with minimum questions.
