And it IS little. I have no idea why the 'product dimensions' are so grossly inaccurate both in the description here and in the manual. The unit I received is 6x6 inches, and 1-1/2 inches high.I'm using the 'iX' version with XLR hookups, if that makes any difference.I should mention that I'm only using this for listening to music on my home stereo.Haven't spent enough time with it yet to say for sure whether there's any 'clarity' or 'definition' improvement, but I CAN say that both these things are at least as good as before, and the overall sound is really terrific! I'm using pretty fancy equipment designed for high-end headphones, and I'd definitely hear it if there were any noise or distortion problems.So what this thing did for me was give my overall sound the 'punch' that it had been lacking. I almost had it the way I wanted it with equalization, but I was cranking up both my hardware equalizer and the software one in my media player, and this not only bothered me on general principle but also didn't allow for further flexibility. With the sonic maximizer I was able to disable both equalizers and have a terrific overall frequency balance right off the bat. And now I can use my hardware equalizer for making subtle adjustments if needed. I got this for recording my voice and making it sound I guess better. Not fan of software and messing around with plug-ins, and giant EQs with too many bands for my own good. What I need was something affordable and not so serious, but also useful and practical. To be honest, I went in blind on this. There is virtually no information out there in regards to how this maximizer behaves with just talking into a mic. Everything is about DJ's and some guitarist here and there. I'm very much glad I did, because this is exactly what I was looking for. The lo contour control puts ''umpf'' into my voice without the ''boom''. Basically making my voice more whole sounding, while the process control makes what I am saying more pronounced and clear. This is not a subtle indifference, this is major change in tone. Drastically different.I am not a singer, guitarist, DJ, etc, but I can say this is worth getting if you are a streamer, or serious linguist.

This is great for my DJ set up. It brings out the bass and highs perfectly. I’m now on number 3 within the last two years. It starts to buzz and I think it’s my XLR’s or my mixer but it’s the maximizer. I try to get support but they won’t take it back or give me a diagnosis.

When this maximizer was recommended by a friend I was skeptical. Boy was I wrong! After figuring out the connections, I pressed power and turned up the bass and WOW! This is NICE!!! Now I don't have to worry about having that extra bass. I thought a more expensive subwoofer was needed but not anymore. This gives me the power I was looking for and didn't break my bank. I highly recommend this device.

I am a DJ and I have a BBE in my passive system that we only use if the client has a large venue so the medium sized powered system gets lots more usage, I am not disappointed with the BBE 282ix in any way in fact I suggest that if you want to bring any audio system up to par without spending lots of money this unit can definitely work for you. Love the enhanced sound with minimum coloration even at high volume levels it really works very well.

BBE technology is made available for small portable PA systems. I use a BBE in the final mix in my studio' i would not do a concert without BBE in the PA rack, and now I'm enjoying the added dimension of sound with my smaller portable PA system. Great product when set correctly, it will add a further dimension to the output, adding clarity, dynamics and all around cool "surround' sound!
