My previous satnav was a nuvi 3598. This seems to me to be an improvement (except for the Voice Recognition, which is inferior), possibly - I am guessing, obviously - helped by European involvement. Routing has improved, but not perfect (what is?), the ability to select a city with an option to go to it rather than previously having the create a destination address is useful. I particularly appreciate the ability to display search results on the map; I found it useful when looking for a petrol station in deepest Cornwall (based on pocketGPS database). The American-created databases were not reliable; well out of date. Overall, very pleased with the DriveSmart.

Portrait display works best for me so was disappointed to find the option is not available on the Drivesmart 76. It is an option on my old Nuvi 2699 which I am replacing and I have since discovered its available on the Drivesmart 86. Why such a basic useful function is not included on the smaller models is baffling and annoying. It may have to go back for a refund.

Nice big screen , easy to operate, will do exactly what it's made for.

Great product and delivery

It works well enough, tricky to get to the window (previous one worked easier). It is always essential to have easy access to 'mute' and 'find alternative route' and this can take a long time to access. Also 'find alternative route' usually means from where I am now, not from where I will be in an hour, which is frustrating. Also, in 2022 one would think scenic routes and coastal routes (stay next to the coast) would be included, considering many travel for this reason. Male voice a bit hypnotic, but at least not screechy. Otherwise it works well. Quite large though, perhaps I should have gone for the smaller version, but as one gets older one needs to see detail without putting glasses on.

I have about 15 years of experience with Garmin navigators. In both this and the previous Navi, automatic route selection is often not successful. You should always review all route options and choose from them manually. Need allways check also Google Maps for its routes and possible traffic jams.
