Portable CD Player with Long-Lasting Battery - FM Radio and Bluetooth

I’ve tried a few different brands of CD players and even refurbished of brands like Sony but this player blows them all out of the water. Bluetooth works perfectly, the sound through my headphones is fantastic and it’s super durable and built well. The EQ is hit or miss and I usually only use one of them if I even use one. But that’s the only real negative. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Buy it. Like any middle child today in their mid 40s who grew up either creatively “borrowing” their sister’s Discman or trying to jump start my Memorex (because I was hard on things my parents absolutely did not get me a discman and I am in no way bitter about that 35 years later…nope…) I needed a portable CD player. I doom scrolled the Amazon cd player results adding then immediately deleting item after item in my cart - like a meth addict on tinder trying online dating for the first time - because let’s face it - the paradox of choice is real and Amazon leaned into this about as hard as humanly possible. Enter KLIM. Maybe it was exhaustion. Maybe it was frustration. Maybe it was meant to be. We won’t ever know, so I closed my eyes, wished on a star that wasn’t visible and clicked checkout. The next day - because why not - a nice dude in a silent yet audible electric van conversion appeared in front of my house and suddenly it was Christmas in June. KLIM had arrived. The painstaking waiting interval of - 14 whole hours - was a FINALLY over. I ripped the packaging open like a rabid dog - or painfully lonely middle aged man desperately trying to reclaim his youth through a cd player - and settled into what would become this review. Like any good 80s/90s kid I immediately cursed my lower back then got to it. Grabbed the trusted, tried and true Radiohead Ok Computer disc, plugged in the included headphones (which are really nice btw), closed the lid and hit play. Here is where the review starts. I forgot how subtle yet incredibly loud lossless vs lossy audio was. CDs sound better than any streaming service. Period. Anyone my age or older knows this but I sorta forgot this. I grabbed the iPhone and using an identical pair of headphones queued up Parnoid Android - and I’m no audiophile - but the difference is stark. CDs are better. You can hear the musical details I had forgotten about or maybe never noticed (misspent youth) but were always present. I test dropped the player on my bed a few times. No skipping. Satisfied with whatever that “test” result was I moved onto the next phase - driving. Yup it works. I have a late 2010s car and it works with my vehicle. Cool. What I’m getting at is this is better than my old Memoroex garbage truck player and not as good as the fancy Sony Discmans of my day / but I’ll take that. So buy it. This one. Well not like THIS ONE - that’s robbery because I won this one - but you get my point. Seriously - it’s cool. Do it.

The function "switches" on the side are hard to see and awkward to move into position without tilting or picking up the unit. It is also a little awkward to insert or remove a disk because the top does not fully open. I used both the Bluetooth and provided wire connections to hook up to an external speaker; both connections were easy to make, and the player provided enough wattage to drive the speaker nicely, particularly when the volume control was set at its max. The battery charged up in a few hrs; I did not expend all its initial charge--used it a couple hrs--so I don't know how long it might have held. Sound quality thru the included ear buds was very good, using both the Bluetooth and wire connections. FM radio functioned nicely throughout a wide range of stations and the sound quality thru the ear buds was very good. A little pricey but does perform well.

I was skeptical about the great reviews, but I am amazed with how easy it was to connect the Bluetooth to my wife's car. The sound is the best that I have ever heard from a set of ear phones. I tried my best to flip it over, shake it and it never skipped playing. Glad to see that someone actually cares enough to make a high quality product that is affordable.

Love my portable radio/cd player! Listening to the radio helps keep me focused as I do chores. No static and the sound quality is excellent. I'm so glad I don't have to insert batteries anymore. I had planned to listen to books on CD but my library doesn't offer them anymore. So it's music on cd or buy books on cd online.

On the surface and initial test this is a lovely unit. It paired with my bluetooth speakers after a second attempt, but failed in the playback of a CD that was 72mins long. The final song was unplayable with endless skips and distortion. Not sure if this is a known issue with these units. Apparently some need some sort of firmware update but I can't be bothered. Decided to return and get something better. If you only have CDs that don't go all the way to 75-77 minutes, like 10 -12 song CDs, then you may be fine with this. I am sure if you contact support they would walk you through a firmware update if you are brave. UPDATE: I got a second unit and the playback issue seems to be gone. Not sure if it is that I allowed the caching to save the last songs this time around or not. But happy this unit is working as expected. I was also able to pair it with my AirPods Max and love the full sound I am getting with those.

This is a nice unit, EXCEPT for the Bluetooth connectivity! It is very poor if there is ANYTHING between your receiver (earbuds, speaker, etc.) and the KLIM. I was trimming a tall shrub, the KLIM was on a patio table about 20 feet away; as long as there was clear line of sight between me and the KLIM, all was good. As soon as I worked around to the far side of the shrub the reception was shredded. The range is adequate at 30 feet +/-, as long as there NOTHING between you and the unit. I’ve had a SONY Discman for years and the range and reception was always good. The only reason I went shopping and chose this was the SONY developed a battery problem and was no longer portable. The Bluetooth technology in the KLIM must be really old! Update 11/23/24 The unit developed some control problems and some options for playback were no longer available. Emailed seller, got a prompt response (<24 hrs) asking for more detail, supplied more description of problem and included to photos of screen. Seller concluded it was a hardware problem and offered to replace it with brand new unit (under warrantee), without asking me to return the old unit first! Great service, upgrade to 4 stars, will go to 5 if Bluetooth is better....

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I bought this portable CD player to share some of the music I grew up with, and it has been such a wonderful purchase. It has been a fun way to take my son back to my generation and let him experience the music that meant so much to me. The sound quality is excellent, it’s easy to use, and the battery lasts a long time. It brings back so many great memories while creating new ones together. I couldn’t be happier with this purchase!

The KLIM Nomad is of good quality. The build seems solid and not flimsy including door opening and closing. The buttons have a good feel and make good contact. The display is easy to read and pleasingly, back-lit; a luxury after years with unlit minidisk displays. The sound quality is good to my ear. (I'm 60 and used to work in night clubs so make of that what you will.) I have played music using the line out and the sound is good on a couple of sets of small speakers I own. It sounds great on my big stereo in the house. I have a Bluetooth to FM device in my car and it sounds fine through that. Connecting was not a problem although the seller did warn of potential problems with some bluetooth implentations. I bought this player to play CD audio, mp3 CDs and to use the card socket. All options sound great. Navigation works well and the DIR button will jump you to the next directory on the current media, where present. One slight quirk I found was when navigating directories on the SD card: it doesn't seem to take you the beginning of the directory. Instead, it drops you into the middle of it. I haven't found any pattern yet but my files do confirm to all sensible conventions in terms of naming and metadata so I don't know what's going on there. It is a minor inconvenience. I was pleased to find that the player will remember the point where you pressed stop or turned the unit off, whether that is on disk or solid state storage. I haven't let the player battery go flat though so I don't know if you'd lose your place in that instance. The Nomad defaults to CD when turned on, so if you're listing to content from the SD card and you turn the unit off, it will default back to the CD when restarting. Selecting the card with the mode button will bring you back to the last listened track on the card. (You might be able to fix this 'issue' by removing the CD but I like to have both media on standby and I haven't tried it.) The unit will also connect to previous Bluetooth devices and start playing by default. I turn it on when I start my car and within a few seconds my music selection is playing. Most convenient! I have not tried the FM radio in the device or the supplied headphones, so I can't comment on those, although the headphones look like they might be decent quality. I also haven't had the Nomad on a long, continuous play just yet so I can't really comment on the battery longevity, although so far it seems okay. I thought at one point that I may have made a mistake buying the white unit. I handled it with dirty hands and marked the player but it cleaned up well with a damp, soapy cloth. If I have one complaint about this unit, it would be that I was expecting more from the DIR button. Pressing DIR will take you to the next directory but that could become a bit tedious if you were trying to navigate a card with over 100 directories on it, as I have. I would have liked, even hoped, the DIR button would bring up a list of directories through which you could navigate before selecting the one you want. Alas, it doesn't do that but that is my only significant complaint. The saving grace is that every time you turn on the player, it picks up where it left off. I tend to work my way through my music collection from one end to the other so I will probably be happy to just let it play until it gets to the end. Overall, this is a great little player. I think it is excellent value for the price.

Voor de prijs erg goede portable cd-speler. Goed geluid. ESP werkt behoorlijk goed. Ook Bluetooth, maar het instellen ging minder vlot dan gedacht. Maar optie kabel is beschikbaar. Snel geleverd door Amazon. Beveel ik aan.

Il est trop tôt pour faire une évaluation complète car je l'ai acheté hier dans l'espoir de pouvoir écouter ma grande collection de CD dans ma voiture, qui n'a pas de lecteur CD. Le son est bon sous les écouteurs, pas mal dans la voiture, et j'ai été agréablement surpris qu'il se connecte à la voiture sans trop de problèmes, un Duster 2 2024 (c'est le dernier modèle avant la nouvelle série 3.) Le Klim Nomad est bien emballé dans une boîte élégante, avec un bon livret d'instructions clair en plusieurs langues. Un ensemble d'écouteurs de qualité raisonnable, avec une sélection d'embouts, un câble de chargement USB, un câble de connexion pour prise casque stéréo 3,5 mm à double extrémité et un joli étui complètent la liste de ce qui se trouve dans la boîte. Vous obtenez également des autocollants Klim et une petite feuille de dessin animé amusante avec des informations au verso sur l'entreprise. J'ai lu ailleurs que quelqu'un avait dit que la batterie rechargeable ne pouvait pas être remplacée, ce qui la rendait peu écologique, mais en lisant l'information, cela implique plutôt que vous pourriez effectivement obtenir une batterie de remplacement. Nul doute que Klim serait en mesure de le confirmer s'il lisait cet avis. Donc dans l'ensemble je suis très satisfait, la radio est aussi un bonus, que pour être honnête je n'avais même pas vu lors de ma commande. La livraison le lendemain par un chauffeur souriant a complété l'expérience.
