Korky 818Z WaterWISE Toilet Fill Valve and Flapper Kit - Save Water and Detect Leaks - Includes Long Lasting Flapper - Made in USA

I would not recommend that you buy the Korky 818Z WaterWISE Toilet Fill Valve and Flapper Kit. Out of six I installed, two failed within the first six months. What happens is that they only fill the tank up about about a third of the way. The issue seems to be with the added mechanism that is supposed to stop the toilet from continuously filling if the flapper gets stuck open.The install is complicated by having to perfectly adjust the little red plastic chain to the water saver mechanism. You have to set the length so that when you flush the toilet it puts enough tension on the water save cup to dump the water out.I finally replaced all six with regular Korky valves.

I installed one of these in my master bathroom toilet years ago after the original fill valve broke. After testing it thoroughly, I decided I need to install one of these in our other toilet also. Unfortunately, I waited too long. The other day, the valve broke and the water ran for hours before we discovered it. I'm trying not to think of the water bill. Needless to say, I went in search of another one of these valves. I was very surprised to see so many bad reviews. After reading a few, I can only guess people are not installing them correctly or they have some unusual toilet design. Mine has been working flawlessly for years. I've tested and re-tested them, simulated both a leaky and stuck flush valve, and this fill valve never fails to do its job.

And already the waterwise feature has stopped the tank from refilling. The only way I can use it is if I remo0ve the red cup and give up this feature.But Korky customer service is sending me another one. Really great CS. . Now I'll find out if this was just a flook or not.P.S. This is the most quirky water valve of it's type I have ever used. I bought several of these over time giving it the benefit of the doubt. The water leak shut off feature intermittently shuts the water off for no reason. So, I removed the red cup and it worked again. For a while. Then it would stop refilling the tank again. I set the float level all the way down, and then brought it all the way up, and it would fill normally. For a while. Now it's just letting in a trickle of water and taking a long time to refill the tank. Again. Everyone of the several Korky valves malfunctioned the same way. I'm going back to fluid master. You all do what ever you want.

Received this product and installed in about 20 minutes. It works as it is supposed too. There are some bad reviews for this item but I think they are due to user error. If you install this as directed you should have no problems. The most important thing is getting the red plastic chain adjusted right. If you get it to tight you will have problems. If it's not tight enough it will not work properly. The chain is used to reset the safety feature that shuts off the water in case your toilet does not shut off for what ever reason. I have one toilet I did not even hook the chain up on I just remove the lift the lid off the tank and reset it manually.

Installed it works ok

These work extremely well, and at least two times I've had a leak through the flapper they've stopped.We always used to be at a flat monthly rate, but now are on a water meter. Just stopping chronic leaks with the toilet flappers should make this feature alone worthwhile! I will now stop buying the other brands I used to be loyal too, such as FluidMaster, and only buy this particular Korky model!

Install is ridiculously easy with no tools required, BUT the water saver shutoff feature is fatally flawed AND you have to call the MFGR during open hours and have them ship you an appropriate hose for a Mansfield toilet.I bought two of these; one works and one doesn’t; the one that doesn’t work leaks internally so much that it fills the float cup inside and makes it think that the tank has reached the full line when it hasn’t.The install requires connecting a chinsy plastic chain to a chinsy plastic hook and then attaching it at the perfect length so that it only pulls up on the bottom cup when the flush lever is pulled all the way down.Buy the nonZ version of this valve without the water saver feature! Those are great!

Update: Contacted Korky/Lavelle & they have honored their warranty by sending a new valve. Only issue is it's the same model.Lasted a week shy of one year. Perphaps Korky will hold up their end of the 5 year warranty and send me a new valve but a different model as this one was also prone to flushing twice (yes, I replaced the flapper at the same time as the valve, and the flapper seats properly).

The Korky Water Wise toilet fill valve works great. The 'red top' model # 528Z. It can save you a giant water bill if your toilet runs on when you are leaving for a holyday. I had a bit of a problem with the wee regulator orifice (little rubber thingy had popped off).I emailed the company and they sent me 3 brand new units to replace the 3 I had installed, no charge no questions asked, covered completely under the 2 year (or is it 5 year?) warrantee.Kind, friendly, efficient, customer service.Thank you very much Maribel at Korky customer service.
