Good purchase for the price
Nice quality and easy to assemble

Has some critical issues that should be fixed.
The price is good but: 1) The earth is too big for the model and it casts a shadow on the moon like it is always a lunar eclipse, 2) the light is tiny and doesn’t shine enough to illuminate properly, 3) the mechanism is hard to get going and gears will skip,4) there are no instructions. I replaced the light, raised the sun and prayed for the rest. Just barely held up for my daughter’s science fair…but it did the job

Could be cool, but…..
This is a great concept, poorly executed. The assembly instructions are so badly written that I just set them aside, and did my best to figure it out. Honestly, it would be better if they just printed them in mandarin and let us do the translation. I’m pretty sure my unit had been 60% assembled by someone else before they gave up and returned it. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this except maybe for someone that has experience assembling, sports car transmissions. I’m going to keep it, but it was somewhat disappointing on Christmas morning.

The instrucrtions are very poorly translated to English
Be patient and decipher the instructions and thoughtfully examine all parts of the model and the assembly will finally become evident. Once assembled note the progressing of the seasons on the labelled disk and DO NOT try to move the lever backwards through the natural progression of the seasons. Apply a firm and steady pressure to the lever. The gear ratio makes a tremendous increase to spin the earth. An will not accept brute sudden force. It will help to apply a bit of petroleum jelly to all the gears to reduce fiction and overcome the inertia of a large diameter gear against the very small diameter gear controlling the earths rotation. Remove the small wire from the button on the sun to allow turning on the sun light by pushing the button in. This is an excellent model and if the instructions were clearer I would have given a 5 star. The rotation of the earth spin and moon orbit are very realistic. Do not try to make things go fast. Firm, slow and steady pressure is the rule of the day. Best to operated the model in darkness with the sun light turned on.

Decent model but shoddy construction
The mechanism is not very smooth but it is effective but in the first 10 min or so a screw loosened and blocked the rotation and then a nut fell off and again blocked the rotation. The screw doesn’t seem to have any way to tighten it without a lot of disassembly. For the price, I’m pretty disappointed.

Good idea, but a few issues
The idea is great to demonstrate where seasons, day and night changes etc. come from. However, the product came with no assembly instruction in the box. Went back online, found semi-helpful instructions in one of the product pictures on Amazon. You have to be very creative to assemble this product. I had to put the nuts in position, cover them with sticky scotch tape to hold them in place, place the wheel on the same side as the nuts in position and them turn it over and put in the screws. Otherwise, the nuts will fall out and you cannot hold them in place with your fingers because of the wheel that you need to attach on top of them. The design is such that you cannot install that wheel after the screws are in. Anyway, hope people fill find this trick helpful. Also, the instructions about the "cosmic" features of the whole system are extreemly poorly translated and are basically unintelligible and useless. So, if you are not sure what is going on exactly, you'll need to educate yourself first somewhere online before explaining it to your child.

No assembly instructions
The model came without assembly instructions. I was able to figure it out but it took a couple of tries. When assembled, I noticed that the earth’s tilt was 180 degrees out on the solstices (see picture). I removed and reoriented it, and it works for what I ordered it for. I teach a classical astronomy course to junior high students. I really like the light from the sun. It spotlights on the earth to show the north/south rays through the seasons.
