Messermeister Slicer Knife Edge Guard, 12 Inch, Black

Bought this for my Victorinox 12-Inch slicer. Reasonable price. It worked fine out of the package, but the tang/handle on knife is angled, while the guard is straight on both sides and a bit longer than the blade. I trimmed one side of the guard at angle so it fit snug against the tang and at the same time shortened the guard to match the blade length. It took a couple minutes and I get a custom fit.I'd buy again for anything I don't keep in a block or ever need to travel with.

I bought this guard to go with my "Victorinox 12-Inch Granton Edge Slicing Knife with Fibrox Handle". I wasn't sure how it worked or if it would fit before I bought it, but it is essentially a sleeve with the long edge and two adjacent small edges open so that it slips over the blade starting from the sharp end of the knife. It doesn't slide over the entire blade, it more "clips" to the sharp edge of the blade, and the back side of the blade (dull end) sticks out slightly. This is even better than I had imagined because it can fit virtually every knife - the ONLY dimension you need to check is the blade length and it can be used on any blade thickness / depth. Anyway, it is very useful on my 12-inch slicing knife because it protects the blade and my fingers going into the drawer. I used to put my knife back into its original packaging each time I was done with its use, and this is a much faster and more effective way to use it. Fast, easy, protective - very handy!!

Fits my 12-inch knife perfectly. At first I thought it was too narrow and was going to return it. That is, until I realized that one of the long ends has a slit and is open. That is where the un-sharp part of the knife sits. I feel much safer having a guard on the very sharp 12-inch knife I own.

While not a "perfect" fit for other brands, such as the Victorinox 12-Inch Granton Edge Slicing Knife, it covers the blade well with just a small exposed section near the angled handle. This is a minor shortcoming and provides a means of keep your larger slicing knives protected (and your fingers) when stored in a drawer.

This edge guard is perfect for that big slicer that won't fit in your knife block.I use it for my Henckels Twin Master 11-1/4" bread knife, which is great for large round loaves and too long to fit any slot in my knife block.It takes a few moments to remove or stow the knife, but that beats the alternatives. The Messermeister guard is durable, easy to use, and takes up far less drawer space than the knife's original package.I have a weakness for gadgets - especially useful ones, so my knife block is full.I keep daily-use knives in the block for ready access and use the Messermeister guards for the rest. The price is reasonable and all my knives now have a home.

It does what it needs to do and it seems like it should last a good long time.

Does not have a felt to protect the blade... just the plastic. It's ok.

I bought this to cover and protect the blade on the Mercer Culinary Millennia 12" Wavy Edge Slicer Knife. I was concerned it was too small till I opened the package and tried it. Fit like a glove. Will not only protect the blade from getting dull, will also protect people from getting cut going in the drawer. Unless you are a professional chef with a knife bag, this is a must have for the house.
