Yes it is safe for gas forges, it might gum up your forge a bit but it won't harm it. However be weary to not breathe in any fumes because it is toxic much like fumes from a welding rod, use in a well-ventilated area.

Q: Can this be used with flux core welding?

Wouldn't recommend it, it's only powder so it'd be hard to have it flow with the wire.

Q: Is Peterson No. 1 blue the correct flux for welding with cast iron rod?

Theoretically you could use this as flux for practically any type of welding because it's an antioxidant witch is exactly what you want for a weld but it says it's for brazing and it comes in powder form so you would have to find a way to get it to stick to the rod
