It makes up for the disappointment with Dynasty 6
The game is definitely worth it if you played it before. It makes up for the disappointment with Dynasty 6. Game play and story is interesting this time around. Definitely like the longer story mode compared to the older ones. Overall, it is a good play.

FINALLY
I have been waiting for this game for what seems like forever! I have been an avid Dynasty Warriors fan since Dynasty Warriors 1 and own EVERY GAME. Working on getting all of the Samurai Warriors and Warriors Orochi games as well. This game has really uped the stanards that we all know and love from KOEI.1. More of the next generation.2. FINALLY we see more than one or two new WOMEN!3. The graphics are sick. I mean their attention to detail is phnominal.4. I started playing it at 5PM TODAY and by 11PM I still had not finished the Story Mode for Shu. And still have like six characters to unlock!5. WAY MORE CHARACTERS THAN EVERY BEFORE! I love that! But there is one thing I would love to see one day. Leiu Shan was born BEFORE Leiu Bei and Sun Shang Xiang got married. But surely they had kids? And if not in real life then couldn't KOEI give them a son or daughter?6. Character designs! I LOVE seeing all the new outfits. And when they change one outfit, they change outfits for every single character in that game. I love that. Now lets hope just like with DW7 we get DLC of outfits for all the other games, and special clothes and costumes and what not too.As far as gameplay it is awesome! The only thing that I do miss, is when they are talking in Camp before a battle it doesn't say anything. And the narrator isn't there either. I did like those in the other games, but I can deal with a little bit of reading to get it. But the ease of which it playes, the level of attacks is amazing! I feel like a kid on christmas morning again.I also love the leveling up system on this. For the first time since Dynasty Warriors 6 you can actually get scrolls to help you level up in a battle. I really did miss that in DW7 but that is alright. We got it back and that is all that matters.Overall this is AMAZING! And well worth the money spent on it and then some. I promise you that if you are a true KOEI fan and you get this game you will NOT be let down. :)

A Warrior Worth A Thousand
I have been a fan of Dynasty Warriors for over 10 years (Dynasty Warriors 3 is my favorite) and I believe that DW8 is one of the greatest DW games—and here’s why: Story: the story is a lot more in-depth then the previous games. DW8 goes into the romance between Liu Bei and Sun Shang Xiang, the beheading of Lu Bu, and takes a closer look at the story of the Jin dynasty. Characters: there are now over 70 playable characters, and each character has four different types of musou (normal muse, secondary musou, aerial musou, and rage musou) and a unique charge move. Weapons: there are a ton of new weapons, and each character can carry two weapons. You can pick from the classic sword or spear, to the more unique weapons, such as a rake, throwing knifes, a giant brush, throwing axes, sais, and a boat (yes, a boat that’s more like a surfboard, which magically creates waves to ride on—awesome). And there are many, many more weapons Overall I think it’s a pretty cool and fun game, especially if you’re playing with a friend. and the new Heaven, Earth, and Man (it is like rock, paper, and scissors) which can give you an advantage or an disadvantage against an enemy officer is a nice strategical addition to the game. I also like some of the new animals they have added—you can now ride on a bear, or have an eagle fight alongside you. If you like any of the previous DW games, then definitely try out this game, and if you’re new to the DW series then give this game a chance—you don’t need to catch up on any of the previous games because every DW game tells the same story, only the game play and story gets better with each installment.
