I did not buy this to use with reptiles so cannot comment on its functionality from that perspective. However, I did buy it to make a DIY sourdough starter and dough warmer now that the winter weather is less than an optimum temperature for either.The mat has a rotary dial to control the heat so is easy to set at the desired temperature and turn on/off at the socket. It has worked really well to provide the optimum temperature for rising a fed starter, and for proofing dough prior to baking. I did this using a cube shaped cool bag but I'm sure a box would work equ6as well.I haven't had it very long but it appears well made and is very good value for money.

I bought this for my pet mice to keep them warm over 3 months ago.My house regularly sits at 10 degrees. The mat is under a small section of their cage under the glass, the temperate inside the bedding and above the mat easily reaches 18 degrees. The mice have notably started sleeping in the area of the mat too. You only need to turn this on a fraction and it can get very, very hot so be sure to check with a thermometer.

I don't have reptiles. I wanted this to keep my 3D printer warm because it has to live in the shed. I made a little kennel for it out of insulation foam, and stuck the heater mat to the inside. Astonishingly, it works!3D printer resin needs to be above 20 degrees to give best results, and it's a lot colder than that in my shed. The heater mat gives off a gentle heat, so it can't cope with freezing temperatures, but it does keep the temperature inside the printer considerably higher than outside the insulated box.I run it on full power all the time, and it just about gives me enough heat. I'll probably get a second one for the other side, which will keep it toasty. For reference, the gap between the insulation and the metal case of the printer is only about 5mm, and the entire internal volume of the insulated box is about a quarter of a cubic metre. The hole in the side is where the cooling fan for the screen exits. It's really only the top half of the printer that needs to be warm. I've read that some people even put a smaller mat inside the printer, which I might try.This heater mat can comfortably heat a small volume like a 3D printer or my printer hutch - it's about the size of a reptile tank. What it won't do is heat a bigger area. It's not a room heater or a cat mat. It's for heating a small space.There is a temperature control, but it's not a thermostat. It's just a variable resistor, so you do need to keep an eye on it and adjust until it's giving the temperature you want. If I was using it to warm animals or plants, I'd add a temperature controller to turn it on and off. For my purpose, I just leave it on full.Before I built my insulated printer hutch, I was heating the entire shed (which is also insulated with the same foam, so it's not quite as bad as it sounds). A £15 mat has slashed the cost of each print massively.

Go these as old one were not working and for the price they are excellent.

Simple and effective product . The times witch could have benefited from being numbers to regulate the heat you roughly guess !
