I pulled my old Panasonic DMR-ES10 out of storage and was pleasantly surprised that it still worked. I was less pleased with the fact that the remote was completely dead. I had some home videos to transfer over so I only needed it briefly. Without the remote I was able to do EVERYTHING I needed other than the most important thing, which is finalizing the DVD so I could play/transfer it elsewhere.With this remote I was able to do all the basic navigation I needed and was able to finalize my discs so I could move the videos to my computer for archiving. For my needs this worked flawlessly. I'm not sure what else you would want out of it.

The headline says it all. This product is advertised as compatible with a Panasonic DVD Recorder DMR-ES30V. It is not.I bought it to replace the original Panasonic remote because the Play button on that remote no longer worked. Every thing else on that old remote still functions so I know the sensor in the recorder is working.When I press a button on the remote, my DVD recorder front panel lights up for about 5 seconds and then goes dark. Other than that, the recorder does not respond to this remote at all. I tried the new remote with two different sets of batteries to eliminate that variable. When I look at the new remote through my camera-phone, I can see it flashing with every button press, so I know that's working. It just doesn't do anything. The only remaining possibility is that it's not compatible, regardless of the vendor's claims. If you have a different model of recorder than I do, you might get lucky, but I doubt it.
