Zmodo 720p 8 Channel NVR System 8 x 1.0 Megapixel HD IP Home Video Security Cameras 2TB HDD

Stay away from this item if you want to remotely view your cameras and manage it from a local pc via a web browser. Zmodo updated the firmware and removed the ability to do this. Zmodo says it was an intentional patch and have no plans to correct it for the users. Look elsewhere for an NVR. Luckily I have time to return this system.

**Update** 10/19/17 Did a firmware update and now the system is TOTAL JUNK!!! When it works it seems okay, but the rare occasion that I want to look back at recent activity, the system is clunky, unreliable, difficult and just an overall pain in the bottom to use. Initially was happy with it, for the price my expectations weren't that high and the system seemed okay. Installation and setup was fairly simple. The video quality is good, plenty of room on a 2TB hard drive. The problems I have are more with the interface of the system, navigating is problematic with the system freezing and often having to do a reboot. Loss of video and gaps in recording. I like that I can get alerts on my phone (when the system is working as it should). These issues seem to be very common with other users of this model. I wish I could return it, but the review I am writing today is about 8 months after installation. Maybe there is an update to the OS this uses that will fix these issues...... If I find a way to fix the issue and update the OS I will then update my review to be on the positive side.

Set-up was easy. The installation instructions were simple and relatively easy to follow but 2 cameras are not working and remote playback is inconsistent. The cameras Time out often and the system is strictly 8 channel and cannot be expanded and wireless cameras cannot be added either. Now I'm stuck because I took too long to install it so now the exchange or return icon is disabled. I really like the system and if it worked properly it would be great. Also the cameras are not very solid and feel very light but they seem to work well when they're working. ZModo please contact me. Thank you.

I Purchased this unit approximately two years ago. I installed it about a year ago. It worked fine up until a month ago when all eight cameras went down. Two weeks later seven of the eight came back up. I called their customer service and troubleshoot it the unit. We decided it was the wire. I had paid an installer more than the cost of the unit to install. They want me to have the installer come back and uninstall the wire, send the wire back before they will send me a replacement wire under warranty. Ridiculous for a faulty wire under warranty. This will cost me an additional $150.

Buyers beware clear picture but terrible quality they always say offline and never record so worthless. And customer support is by chat only and they take forever to reply and sometimes stop replying altogether. You can call but it is always at least a 1hour and 50 min wait time. And they don't honor the warranty unless you buy from zmodo site not amazon

I like the bullet cameras a bit more than the ball or dome cameras. The doom cameras have a wider view lens, it seems to me.The NVR works great and only needs a mouse to use it ! The video quality is very good for only 720P during the day, it drops off a tiny bit at night.I now own 5 of the 8 NVR systems, and would love one more as my budget permits

First off I really wanted to love it. The dome Cameras are junk extremely limited field of view. The bullet cameras are decent.Today I tired to view yesterdays footage on one camera and it goes to the day before or today nov 7 shows up but when i click on it takes me to nov 6 I have another zmodo dvr system its wireless which kills my internet was hoping to offload some of the cameras to wired but not sure i can trust this system.
