Ballistic Tough Jacket Case Maxx for Samsung Galaxy S5 - Retail Packaging - Black/White

It's a very good case & absorbs shock very well and as long as you leave it in the case most of the time I promise you it will look BRAND NEW if you do not take it out of the case a lot. I have added photos to show how it looks currently. It comes with a holster that has a built in clip that only rotates 180 degrees. So do not try to spin it 360 degrees while it's in the holster cause you may break it. The grip is nice, & it does add a little bulk to your phone (I think it's worth it)I really don't have any complaints about it besides the fact that the ear plug piece may eventually break off if you listen to music a lot. And it would be best to buy it from amazon because other places will charge you over $40.Pros1.Keeps your phone in excellent condition (see photos)2.Has raised lips so if you can drop it face down it should be fine.Cons1. It does tend to collect dirt and grim as you can see along the edge of my screen protector2.Adds some bulkWeird1.I have no idea how i managed to get a permanent BALLISTIC logo on the back panel of my phone.

I purchased both the OtterBox and the Ballistic Tough Jacket Maxx and both have nice features. The Otter concept if you are not aware, is to encase the phone in two plastic pieces, the front piece has a clear screen protector and the back piece "locks" into the front piece with tabs. That is then wrapped in a ruggedized rubbery grip enclosure, securing the "clam." The Ballistic concept is to apply a thin plastic screen protector over the phone and that then is inserted into a rubbery grip enclosure that holds the screen protector securely in place and securely surrounds and protects the phone from drops. Then on the back of the rubbery part is applied a plastic 1/2 shell that acts as a nice grip and provides the tabs to insert into the holster.Both cases feel about the same with the phone in the holster and both holsters provide a hard, relatively heavy piece of plastic to protect the front of the phone. Both holsters' belt clips swivel 360 degrees. Both have a narrow opening that fits nicely over a man's belt, but also easily clips over belt and pants.I think the Otterbox case is probably a bit tougher in that the "clam" holds the phone very tightly and may be a bit more drop resistant.The Ballistic feels much nicer in my hand and is the one I'm going to be using day to day.The Otterbox case offers one potential advantage in that dust is ubiquitous in our world. If you carefully clean the phone before placing in the Otterbox "clam" little or no dust is likely to get under that screen protector. On the other hand the Ballistic screen protector is not as well sealed so dust does tend to find its way under the screen. Not a deal breaker in my opinion. I used both cases a bit for the S3 and had to take them both apart from time to time and clean them. I find using an alcohol wipe and those microfiber cloths you can get for cleaning eye glasses work the best.The Ballistic Maxx has a wider opening on the back so using the heart rate monitor was much more accurate or at least seems to work better with the phone in Ballistic Maxx.I think the S5 in either case weighs about the same. For me, a large guy with big hands, the tiny difference in width, with the Ballistic Maxx being ever more narrow makes it my preferred case as it is a little more comfortable to hold.The finger print reader on the S5 is squirrely to say the least and neither case made it any less accurate than it already is. I think Samsung made that finger print reader to read the fingers of Alpha Centaurians and not Homo sapiens.Both cases lack one feature that would have been a deal breaker. Neither has a kick stand feature. It would be SO nice if they had made the back of the case to have a little pull out stand, so one could stand the phone up on portrait mode for reading.The Ballistic Maxx has one slightly better thought of feature in that the charging port on the S5 has a cover and the Ballistic Maxx has a slightly larger opening allowing easier opening of the charging port cover for us gentlemen who clip (or bite) their fingernails.Overall I greatly prefer the Ballistic Maxx for everyday use. I like the way it feels, the ease with which it pops out of the holster and how securely it feels in the holster and how easily the holster/phone combination unclips from my belt. This last part is extremely subjective, but I wear a digital hearing aid and the Ballistic Maxx sits every so slightly closer to the phone itself so I have less feedback between the phone in the case and the hearing aid.

Good case. Kinda bulky and the corners catch on packets making it hard to get it in one's pocket. Bought a otter box on black Friday and it was twice as much but it is three times as nice.

My husband has been using this case for around 9 months and it still works perfectly. That says a lot for him because he is bad about dropping his phone or banging it while working. He normally needs a new case every few months, and this has survived about double the normal time.The multi piece, layered design is easy to put on the phone, and stays put until you take it off. It fits nicely, without any issues, and offers great protection while still being compact enough to carry on your side. This comes with a removable screen protector and belt clip that swivels for directional options too.I am pleased with the results we have seen from this case and would purchase again. .

Great case. I love the protection it provides but what makes it my favorite case is the belt clip. With a phone this size, I cant fit it in my pocket. Phones are getting bigger and BIGGER and I need a belt clip. Cheap belt clips are more trouble than they are worth. This clip is durable and convenient to use.The reason I only gave 4 stars is the included screen protector. I have removed it from my last two phones. It is not clear, doesn't sit flush at the bottom by the power button and can let in debris. I simply get a Zagg type screen protector and am quite satisfied. By removing the plastic screen protector the case is not as tight fitting but it still works fine.I had some concerns with charging the 5S because we need to remove the charging cover (waterproof cover) before charging. I thought it might be too difficult to access the charging port with this case. There is plenty of room and charging is just as easy as before.So dont buy this case for the screen protector but if you want great protection and a belt clip, this is the case you need.

Liked it for fall protection but it didn't protect at all from dirt or debris inside the case. Also the clear front cover was scratched and marred almost first day. Within a week, that part was worthless so purchased a separate clear front cover for the phone. Case is easy to put on and off.

In the past 8 months of owning this case. It has already been replaced due to the clip breaking, no longer securing the phone to the holster. Same issue happened to me again 4 months later. Seems to be a recurring issue. I would not recommend this product if you're looking for durability.

Fits great. I like that I can install the case and eliminate the plastic screen cover. The glass is tough enough for me anyway. It is not designed to slide in and out of a pocket. I do put it in a pocket when the job dictates but mostly clip it on my side. A kickstand would have been nice. I have had Ballistic cases for an S3, S4, and now my S5. This one is the better thus far.

Had issues with the first product, seller quickly remedied the issues and I am now very happy with the product!! great protection, and makes the phone easier to hold too. Well designed ports and buttons, one of the very best out there. I would say this is definitely better than Otter case!

I am very happy with this case. The buttons and openings all work well in my opinion. I don't feel it gets in the way of the fingerprint scanner at all, I just don't thing the fingerprint scanner is very good on the S5 to begin with. It is heavy, but worth it in my line of work. The only complaint, as many others mentioned, is the crappy screen protector that comes with it. The one I received was already scuffed and scratched in the brand new packaging. I didn't even bother putting it on. But, I don't really care about that minor detail. I just bought another good one off Amazon for $5 and put it on myself. Works great. If it weren't for the screen saver detail I would give the case a full 5 stars.
