Yes it would. I had a GREAT turtle and are familiar with them. It would be a very nice home. Mine liked to run around the house.

Hello Susan, its sturdy enough to be above ground, but I am unsure about it being a stand alone pond. For example, I used it as a replacement liner for an existing above ground patio pond. Its very sturdy, so I suppose it could be used for that after it was filled with water and maybe stabilized with things around it. I hope this helps!
