I plugged it in; I turned it on; it started working. That's about it. The motor runs for approximately a minute and then shuts off for around five minutes before it starts up again. The motor is audible, even with the lid closed, but it's not very loud. I have the winder on my dresser in the bedroom and I can't hear it at night at all. And best of all, it keeps my watch wound when I'm not wearing it.I did have to insert some folded up business cards under the fabric band around the "pillow" to keep my watch from flopping around when rotating. My wrist is not that large. In fact, I had to two three links of the bands from my two most-recently-purchased bracelet bands in order to get the watches to fit. It would be nice if the insert could hold my watch a little more tightly, but I'm not going to downgrade a review just because I had to do a little improvisation that cost me nothing.

I have a Rolex and was always leery of manually winding it knowing repairs can be $500 to $1,000 depending on required repair.This solved my problem and my watch is always accurate. I totally endorse this item and have recommended it to family and friends.

Works perfectly for my automatic Tissot. It is nice, no noise at all, very useful for those who have lots of watches and wants to keep them all set for use.

I have six of these now for 2-4 months and so far they all work fine on AC power. They are pretty basic meaning they just have an on/off switch and rotate in only one direction. That's not a complaint just something to note compared to other winders. One reason I bought these is my old winder which was a "fancy" four watch winder that cost about $250 had two motors go bad so I was left with a large winder that only served two watches. At least this way with the individual winders I can toss one if it goes bad and they are cost less.

Does exactly what it's supposed to do, keep my Submariner nicely wound up during the night, ready for wear the next day. Very quiet, looks good doing what it does too. Used now for two weeks, no regrets, worth the asking price.
