Excellent for Calming Psychological Cravings
Hubby has a psychological craving to see clouds of smoke. He's an ex-smoker, and I'm a trauma counsellor who has finally sorted out what the real attraction to cigarettes is for him. Turns out it's not the nicotine, it's the visual of smoke, plus the sensation of having something in his mouth. For many smokers, the addiction isn't drug related, but rather a need to experience certain tactile/visual sensations. I you're an ex-smoker who is feeling tempted to relapse, do try MONQ first. They might resolve your craving much better than you expect.Things to know if you're new to these kinds of diffusers. They are non-addictive (as long as you're not doing the kind that includes addictive substances such as cannabis or caffeine). These essential oil versions are NOT meant to be inhaled into the lungs. Instead, you suck into the mouth (NOT down the throat), then exhale through the nose.Regarding the volume of smoke: Diffusers have significantly less smoke than vapes. If MONQ doesn't give you enough smoke, try Ripple, which gives more.Regarding scent: MONQs are VERY mild--so much so that you can smoke these a few feet away from someone and they won't smell it at all. The scent of these does NOT cling to any material, hence there is no lasting aroma in the room. For me, this is a MAJOR plus, because I'm not a smoker and I actually loathe having scents forced upon me. But hubby really needs to puff on something, so I was really happy to find these. He also likes Ripple (primarily due to the greater volume of smoke), but Ripple scents are much stronger and fruitier and they cling, which makes them unsuitable for indoors. So he smokes his Ripples outside and his MONQs inside and everyone's happy.Regarding the drug effect: Hubby is very sensitive to drugs, especially stimulants, and these don't do anything for him other than provide psychological pleasure. If you're looking for the same kind of effect as nicotine, stick diffusers aren't going to work for you. Essential oils can certainly have significant effects, but they tend to more subtle in their impact. Yes, lavender can be relaxing, but it probably won't do much if you're in a severe state of stress. Meanwhile myrtle is a sly little stimulant that doesn't give you any noticeable energy spike, yet you find yourself wondering why you can't go to sleep at night. I'm a big fan of essential oils and we diffuse them in our home 24/7 for health benefits. I'd recommend getting yourself a quick little reference book if you are going to get into stick diffusers because it's good to have some idea of what you're smoking. Oils are like herbs--your body will like some and dislike others. "Essential Oils Pocket Reference" by Life Science is a handy little manual that you can quickly dip into for a good amount of info on pretty much any oil you're going to want to try. You can also look up oils online, but the manual I mentioned is more convenient and more in-depth.Regarding function: These rechargeable packs are brilliant. I recommend you try their singles first to make sure you like the concept before you spend the money. Realise that it's impossible for them to accurately tell you how long it a single stick will last because everyone takes different kinds of draws. The "300 puffs" estimate assumes VERY light breaths, so don't expect that much before the thing runs out of battery. If you like the one time use ones, then it's worth investing in the rechargeable pack. For the pack, you can pick pods of any flavour (you'll have to use a different website for refills, but hopefully Amazon will start carrying them soon). The case stores 3 flavour pods at a time, then it stores the stick diffuser that you screw the pods onto. You can change pods as often as you want--no need to run them all the way out first. When you place the diffuser in its case, the case charges the diffuser's battery. You can then charge the case itself when needed via a USB cable. Simple as.I researched MONQ's ingredients and the reason I like them best is their formulations. I really like the fact that they openly acknowledge that even essential oils can become harmful if over heated, so they try to keep their heat level as low as they can. Less heat plus less glycerine = less smoke. To put it simply, huge billows of smoke indicate that the ingredients you're smoking aren't the best. I'm a firm believer that our lungs weren't designed to process smoke, hence you should avoid sucking smoke into your lungs. The fact that you don't involve the lungs with these diffuser sticks is a huge plus to me, especially since hubby already has damaged lungs due to Covid complications and a history of chain smoking. If you've already gone through the hell of getting off of nicotine, why go back there if you don't have to? Try these diffusers instead and see if you can make your mind happy while still being kind to your lungs.
