I Love it!! - I recently ordered this cookbook and was not disappointed! It has a wide array of recipes that covers all the food bases. This gives a truly overall foundation for SCD cooking. From broths, to breads and everywhere in between, having this cookbook in your arsenal will allow you to have all your favorite staples in SCD legal form. Some tried and true from the blog plus lots of new recipes. I actually really enjoy having the favorites from the website in the cookbook. This book was such a great price, it's worth having it in your cupboard instead of searching them out on the computer. Plus, there are so many new recipes! Great tidbits and helpful tips throughout the book. Uses the basic ingredients of SCD cooking so you'll have everything you need to create these dishes. The first section, titled Basic Recipes has all the recipes you need to make your own milks, broths and yogurts. Clean pages, great pictures and friendly layout. As a strict SCD follower, it's so great to have a book full of recipes I can eat plus pass along to my gluten-free and other diet conscience friends. Great for anyone who wants to venture into a more healthy way of eating. I highly recommend this book! Review: Covers the basics as well as creative new recipes... - The Specific Carbohydrate Diet has been the key to my good health. I have followed Erica's blog for many years and always enjoy her creative recipes so when I saw this book I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. It is full of colorful photos (a must for a good cook book in my opinion), basic how to's and loads of creative recipes. My favorites so far being the Orange Cauliflower Cous Cous and Black Bean Soup. It also contains a short history of the SCD and travel tips as well as product sources and a substitution list. Overall it is an invaluable resource especially if you haven't cooked much and are just beginning to cook for yourself. The basics such as Classic Roasted Chicken and Spaghetti Squash are included along with Chicken Pot Pie and Cinnamon Raisin Bread. A great book for anyone on the SCD or anyone who is trying to cut out gluten, grains and refined sugars.

Great book, temps a bit high, Crohns
This is a wonderful book, great recipes! My ONLY complaint is the temperatures are a little high for almond flour. I've been on SCD for 8 years and cooking with nut flours you need a longer cook time and a lower temperature. (Nut flours are expensive so you don't want burnt cookies/bread!!) For example, the "oatmeal" cookies should be cooked between 320/330 for about 13-15 min. Keep an eye on your baked goods when they're in the oven. It's not as forgiving as regular flour. Also, if you have crohns or colitis this diet is truly a lifesaver! As someone who had a complete colectomy due to crohns (a completely unnecessary procedure once I learned about the importance of diet) this diet is a miracle. (My jpouch was starting to fail so I had to do something because I had given up on doctors) It takes awhile to kick in (hey you've probably been eating poorly for years!) but once it does the difference is amazing. Happy cooking and blessed health to all!

Yummy recipes for those of us with limited diets!
Lots of good recipes to try - perfect for SCD or low carb/Atkins/Keto diets. My favorites are the Cherry Chicken Salad and the Dirty Rice.

I love this book and I think you will too if you eat SCD.
Several months ago I was put on the SCD diet for my SIBO. So the first thing I needed to do was to learn to cook for myself and hopefully find recipes that my family would also enjoy. This book had good reviews so I started with this one. I have been so happy with this book. I have tired many recipes in this book and I have truly enjoyed all of her recipes that I have tried so far. My absolutely favorite recipe from her book in her grain free granola. I make a big bath and sprinkle it on yogurt or my salads. I also love her classic marinara, I make a big bath and freeze it in smaller portions. The table or contents categories are: About SCD, Basic Recipes, Small Bites and Snacks, Salads and Soups, Sauces Jams and Dips, Breads, Biscuits and Crepes, Vegetables and mock starches, Poultry Meat and Seafood, Sweet Treats. So as you can see the book has a little bit of everything! You will also find her website amazing: [...]. there it is full of more yummy recipes. [...]

I liked some of the recipes in the book but I ...
I liked some of the recipes in the book but I wouldn't list it as a "true" SCD recipe book as the author advocates using some canned tomato paste and other ingredients that are NOT on the legal list for the diet. You have to watch for the illegal items and substitute something else.

AWESOME BOOK!
Let's just say I collect cookbooks, so I'm no newbie to recipes, but I am so excited to add this book to my collection! It is softcover with 162 "slick" pages like a magazine which makes it so easy and fun to read. There are lots of colorful close-up pictures so you can see exactly what the recipe is supposed to look like. The Table of Contents is especially helpful--it's in large colorful font and arranged by categories so you can easily find ideas even if you don't know what you're looking for. But my favorite section of the book is all the information the author provides before you even get to the recipes. Tips for athletes and travelers, allowable SCD foods, and a chart for how long to soak your nuts/seeds/beans. She includes basics for the SCD diet such as dripped yogurt and ghee so you don't have to look elsewhere for your recipe, but lots of new allowable comfort foods such as Chicken Pot Pie and Cinnamon Raisin Bread. I think I'll be like Julie and Julia and systematically make every single recipe!

A wonderful resource!!
I am on the SCD diet after much suffering from ulcerative colitis. This book is filled with delicious recipes for those who want to fight this disease through food and for anyone who wants to live a healthier lifestyle. I find the recipes to be simple enough for me to make- other cookbooks have such complicated methods that just are not practical for me to undertake. AND they are simply delicious! I am so grateful to the author for sharing all she has learned about this diet AND for giving me HOPE that I can enjoy food and get healthy at the same time!!
