Dell S3840cdn Laser Printer - Color - 1200 x 1200 dpi Print - Plain Paper Print - Desktop

My DELL 3000cn died after like 8 years, and I was going to fix it here and there but then I said "hey, what the heck, for the costs why not just buy a new printer", and am I glad I did. This baby is so fast and prints color beautifully. Unlike the 3000cn, it does color on both sides in one pass very quickly. I definitely overbought because I probably only print less than 50 pages a month, but I like to have quality, for the Christmas letter you know. One thing you should know is that although it can print wifi directly from a iPhone, it didn't come with the wifi card. There is a slot on the side panel that take a proprietary $100 card (of course :( ). So I guess I won't be using that feature. Otherwise setup was a breeze. I bought DELL for the reliability I'd experienced with the 3000cn.

Horrible printer. Weighs 59lbs. Note that it only handles plain paper (which makes no sense for a color printer !). If you do buy it, be sure to use a USB3.0 port. Sent mine back !

The print quality is excellent along with the speed. My only complaint is how a Mac Book Pro functions with it. It seems like I have to restart the printer anytime I want to print, even though the printer and Mac Book Peo are on the same wi-fi network.

The printer is excellent but I had to return it because I needed the MFP S3845CDN printer.. Amazon makes it effortless to make the return.

When this printer is working it is super fast and prints on both sides of the page (sometimes I forget to turn this feature off and have to reprint). About twice a month, randomly, the printer freezes and you have to turn off or unplug it and let it go through its boot up cycle. Sometimes you have to do this a few times in a row before the printer decides it is ready to work. The other concern I have is it appears to have a drum for each color. Dell likes to chip their drums so that even if the drum is working perfectly, the printer tells you to buy a new drum and will not let you print. We almost never use color so if the color drums go out because of the chip I will change to one star and update.10/23/18 update: The printer completely gave up after 6 months of light use. The screen display shows a device fault and after several restarts it still will not work. We are still on the factory toner. Upon start up it does a series of beeps, I believe it is 4 sets of 5 rapid beeps. I'll see how difficult it is to warranty and post back if I get a chance.

Nice printer. Great replacement to my 3220dn. Easy to set up, plug n play.
