Easy to use
Better than expected. My previous can opener was Kitchenaid and this was way better.

Great
I’ve bought other OXO can openers and this is the BEST. Works better than electric can openers!

2 years later still works like new
TL;DR: OXO good, Walmart badThroughout childhood, we had 2 can openers in my home. An electric one, and a manual one. Both of them worked perfectly. When I unfortunately became an adult and had to buy my own, I was buying them over and over again. None lasted for more than 6 months, some of them less than a week. The cheap manufacturing HAS TO STOP. Brands need to have ACCOUNTABILITY. You are filling up the earth with GARBAGE for literally no reason at all, that is the LEGACY you will leave. I hope you are proud. This magnificent creature reminds me of the days of yore, when you bought something once and used it forever. 2 years and still going strong, opening every type of can with no hassle whatsoever. The only problem is that the handle casing slides off. I think that may be functional so you can clean the cavity inside. They slide securely back on and can easily be gorilla glued if you don't like that feature.

Works well so far!
Somehow or other, can openers became complicated. It seemed like my parents bought one every century or so, but I don't seem to have that kind of luck. I bought this one to replace a different brand opener that lasted all of 3 months before it refused to work.=== The Good Stuff ===* In the two months that I have owned this opener, it was worked great on any variety of cans. I don't use all that many canned goods, but I do occasionally open large cans of tomato sauce, something that seems to test openers. This one works great, even on the largest of cans.* While the can edges are sharper than the side-cutting openers, they are not especially sharp, and the opener usually cuts all the way around so there is no sharp edge where you had to break away the last quarter inch of the lid.* The handles are reasonably soft and comfortable to grip.=== The Not-So-Good Stuff ===* So far, no negatives.=== Summary ===It has lasted longer than the one I bought at the big blue box, so I am happy with it.

Easily Opens Cans
I was at my friends house and used her OXO SoftWorks Can Opener, and I immediately fell in love with it. Yes, I know, it is just a can opener. But what you have to understand is I have never owned a good can opener before. I didn't know one could work so well. So as soon as I got home, I decided I had to order my own. I was so happy when it arrived. And luckily having Prime, I received it in two days. The OXO SoftWorks can opener is so much easier to use than my old can opener. No, scratch that, it is so much easier to use than my last three can openers I have had. It clamps down onto the can easier, and the knob you twist feels much smoother than my old one. My old one wouldn't even cut the top of the can all the way around. There would be spots that were missed. So you would have to go over it a few times. Not the case with this one. It cuts smoothly, in one shot, and does it easily. I will happily recommend this can opener to anyone and everyone. It truly is the best one I have ever had.

Finally, a can opener that LASTS
I have never had a can opener that lasted more than a couple years before something went wrong with it and had to be replaced, even fairly pricey ones only lasted a couple years. Fed up, I went to Facebook and asked for recommendations on a can opener that would hold up over time. Two of my friends recommended OXO as they'd had theirs for 10+ years with no problems. I have now had this one for five years and it still works as well as the day I bought it. One of the handle covers did come loose, so I have been needing to slide it back into place, but will be easy to fix it with some glue. Very happy with this purchase that was much more affordable than one of the many I had to replace!

Best opener I've ever used
I'm glad I was able to find this opener still being sold! We received one as a wedding gift in 2003 and liked it well enough, but it's just a can opener, so didn't give it a lot of thought. A couple years ago my in-laws were moving into a smaller place and needed a can opener because their old house had an under cabinet opener that they would be leaving behind. So I gave them ours thinking I could just pick up a new can opener and it wouldn't really matter. I bought a cheap one at W-mart and began using that...and was really sorry I gave my nice can opener away! Most of the time I couldn't make it all the way around the can without the blades jumping the track. So irritating! So here I am buying myself a new can opener that's the exact same as the old one I used to have, and will not be parting with it this time. The handles are super soft and comfortable, it's very smooth to use, I highly recommend it!
