Toy Story Power Blaster Buzz Lightyear

After looking at many reviews (many of which are critical) for several Buzz Lightyears, I settled on this Buzz to get for my son's 3rd birthday. I am very pleased with my choice. This is the same Buzz that our closest Toys R Us has in store, so I figured the quality couldn't be too bad. In fact, this is a great Buzz. Be sure to get this one, because the one Toys R Us offers online is $54.99 and doesn't come with the shield and Power Blaster, which is probably my son's favorite part of toy. It makes noise when you shoot it and lights up with big, bright yellow and red lights - very cool. In spite of indeed having no "off" button, I have had no problems with Buzz talking when he isn't supposed to. I'm guessing the instance one reviewer had with this problem was a fluke. Neither have we had a problem with Buzz's legs - they are quite sturdy, and you can pose Buzz to stand on his own. The voice sounds genuinely "Buzz", with many fun sayings, and he even plays a bit of music - what I will call an "intergalactic fanfare". The wings have a safety feature: If you accidentally drop Buzz, his wings pop off instead of breaking. Just line up the arrows and snap the wings back on. Each wing is also tethered to Buzz by a short and thin but secure black cord so it doesn't get lost if it pops off. I'm so glad I got the best Buzz for my money, and my son loves it.

This was what my son asked for from Santa. After getting him the full sized one the christmas before I wasn't sure if he was even going to play with it, since the other didn't get pulled out unless we watched the movies. This toy is cool though! The laser shooter has a cord that plugs into buzz's side to use his battery power. The shield fits on his arm, or you can put it on his back. The cord on the laser has an ingenious retracted. You just wrap it and cover it and then you don't have to worry about it getting caught or bent. Then once retracted the gun can click into the shield on buzz's back. There are all sorts of new sayings, and some of his heroic music. This buzz is slightly small than the full sized Buzz that you can purchase, but not enough to make a difference. The only complaint we have had is that the joints of the legs are extremely stiff. It takes an adult to do it, and even then it makes sounds like your going to break it. Squeaking, creaky plastic on plastic. That said I would much rather he have wooden limbs than the jelly legs our other seems to have. Overall cute toy, great design, and a wonderful addition to my sons toy story collection. :-)

I poured over reviews of this Buzz before I bought it, on all different websites. I saw a LOT of reviews about how Buzz's legs and feet broke off after just a few days of use - and I was really nervous about buying him because of that. He went on a deep discount sale so I went ahead and dove for it, took a chance...and I'm glad I did. So far, so good! We've had him open and he's been played with for about 2 weeks now. I've had no problems with his electronics (he talks just fine and at the right time), and his legs and feet seem solid. I'm hoping that the company that manufactures this toy saw all the reviews and fixed the issue! He's a great sturdy Buzz (so far as I can see!). There is a small issue with one of his wings popping off the hinge a lot (I remember the older Buzz Lightyears having this issue too) but I just snap it back on no problem. If we have a leg or foot snap off, I'll come and update my review, but so far so good - 5 stars!March 15th update (4 months of play) and we're still going strong. He's not broken at all, and his sound still works just fine!

This was a lightning deal impulse buy which turned out to be a bit of a mistake. For $40 you'd think you were getting the real deal, however there were a few complaints I had. I bought this for my 3 year old, but I also had one as a kid and the buttons where he talked all pushed in individually and this one they all go in at the same time. The wrist also opened on mine and I would think as advance as toys have gotten that the wrist would have opened on this one, but it didn't. The power blaster is okay, but doesn't fit into his hand very well and is constantly falling out. The wings came out of alignment on the first day and wouldn't stay closed so I had to fix that. I don't know why, but the helmet tint is blue which is not true to the character. The legs do move in a hundred different directions, however it is still a pain to get it to stand up, which can be frustrating and make the product seem cheap. To be honest I haven't even fooled with the shield it came with and haven't found much point to it. As far as looks go this Buzz is almost true to the character and seems pretty solid, but the functions leave a lot to be desired.

Trying to make a child happy? Buy this toy! It's amazing- the power blaster gun is incredible and he seems to be great quality!Trying to get some peace and quiet? You'll be out of luck with this toy. It is LOUD! Again, great for kids, but scares the crap out of me when I'm not expecting it.Update 6/2016: About two months after buying we took the batteries out (at my child's request- he was super annoyed with it by that point, too) and have not put them back in. Seriously annoying toy. Without the sound, it has improved immeasurably! I no longer fear taking him places, along with Woody and Mr. Potato Head.

My daughter got this for Christmas and loved it! It's bigger than I expected and looks just like the real Buzz in the movie (I even think it is Tim Allen's voice, too). The only reason I gave it 4 stars is that it doesn't have an "off" button, and the toy is kind of loud so every time my daughter presses the buttons or even if she presses them accidentally while carrying him around he goes off! It's not a "bad" thing it can just be annoying to parents sometimes, that's all. But overall, an awesome toy and we got a great deal here on Amazon!
