Helpful, could be much better!
This should have been twice the size in my opinion. The book is not long as it is, and it has way too many different authors who have different tones and focus. The f fragments of the authors where we have no other work I understand but the others you are reading something out of context, and it’s not as helpful as it could be. If the book was about twice as long the editor could’ve provided the full text of some of the works not an expert. Some tragedies could have been added rather than just fragments. As they are not the that long. Lastly, this should have included the entire text of Gilgamesh and others like it. We don’t have that much from history as it is. It would have been much more helpful for myth comparison etc..this book has a very short appendix with a few excerpts. Really this book is just fragments of Greek and Roman authors. With an appendix at the end with Near East. 1st copy I received had a bent cover. Luckily, Amazon helped me to exchange it for one that looked much better.

Educational...great book.
Great book. Used for Greek & Roman Mythology class, but I plan on reading it again just for the "fun of it". It was very interesting.
