Riedel Ouverture White Wine Glass, Set of 4

Good wine glasses break - that’s life. Riedel is my prefered stemware - lead free crystal with a pleasantly thin rim and light weight, far and away better than thick, cheap wine glasses. However there are so many confusing styles, sizes and price points out there, and Riedel’s prices have increased. I prefer a small stem for white wine, and this set is perfect foe me and my small hands. The quality and weight are fantastic, true to Riedel’s reputation. However they are not for everyone. if you’re looking for a larger glass, this is not for you. They are a about an inch smaller than the previous Riedel Overture white wine glasses I used to have (of which I only have only one remaining - see photo). I probably could have paid more for a set that was the same size as my old set, but for the price, these smaller ones are perfectly fine.

We had just one Riedel white wine glass remaining from year 2000 (determined by the coded logo etched on the base). Using those dimensions I came up with these nearly-identical Ouvertures. They are elegant and plenty fine for regular use. When the inevitable accidental breakage eventually occurs, it won't be the disaster that breaking a 10x more expensive handmade version would make.Updated May 2024: Enough glasses have now broken over the past year that I am re-ordering a new set of four. I noticed that the AI commented that customers frequently return these because of size. What part of the exact measurements shown in the product information do those people not understand?

I was trying to add to some similar size glasses I had bought years ago. Reidel must have changed sizes(these are a little smaller)so these weren’t a match but they are close enough.

Our first order arrived with several glasses broken. Amazon quickly sent a replacement order and free shipping for the return of the damaged glasses. They are beautiful glasses, but delicate and need to be packed better for shipping. We love them and feel the problems we had getting them were worth it.
