FLEXINew Classic Tape Retractable Leash, Red, Large/26'

Our previous retractable dog leash started fraying and jamming after about 6 months of use. We needed a new one so I did some research and found this to be a reputable high quality brand. Have used the leash for a few days now and it seems to be performing better than our old leash. It does not jam at all, it retracts much quicker, and is tangle free. The size of the handle is perfect and fits snuggly in my hand. We will see how it holds out overtime, but so far so good! I highly recommend this leash!

We have multiple Flexi "brand" dog leashes. AND we have multiple other brands...that I have taken to Goodwill. Most of ours are the 16 foot models. This is the 25 foot model.Flexi is a German brand and extremely well made and easy and reliable to operate. None of the others are like that. They all suck or break or both... I got the others mostly in an emergency where I forgot the Flexi's. Then you leave it like in a car and think, OH good, I have a leash in the car. Then comes the time to use it and you cuss as it either hangs up in the internal mechanism or starts to come apart.Flexi's cost more but if you have to buy two or three to last as long then what have you saved particularly since they are going to give you fits even when they sort of work. WE literally have a couple that are 15 years old. We try to have a couple in each vehicle. They have "improved" them in the last couple years, but still sell the "classic" ones like this. I prefer the old "classic" version but the new ones are OK, just a bit different in how they work and seem a bit less robust on the outer part but then again, less subject to getting banged and breaking. I think internally they are the same and that's the important part. So, it's personal preference. But I do find the older ones cost a bit less, in general.I found this 25 footer and it was a great deal cost wise so I bought TWO for our crazy woman 50 lb wolf looking pup rescue. That's how good a deal it was. She needs the length although she can build up speed fast and jerk your arm chasing most anything that moves. At least with these, they don't break when she gets to the end. You just have a hurt shoulder. It's better than breaking and her just keeping going. Ours is a runner so this is great.So, go Flexi is my recommendation always, look for some deals like this one was around half or more LESS than the stores... But even if you gotta spend full price Flexi is worth it.

They work great for my 2 Siberian Husky sisters, particularly in large open areas. Love the extra length for more freedom to run in open areas. My previous XL size lasted 8 years and were great, but about 6 feet shorter then the current ones at 30 feet long. Florescent leashes are better so others can avoid getting caught by a leash while dogs are playing, and possible leash burns when wearing shorts! Nice grip & sturdy handles.

The locking thumb switch works smoothly and without any binding. The internal mechanisms are free and moving smoothly. Everything that moves does so well that you can hardly feel the rewinding movements.Edit: One week in and I'm loving this leash even more. The neon reflective leash tape pops in visibility and is designed to stay flat which retracts perfectly. Once you get used to the workings of the thumb switch, it becomes a part of your hand.And then there's the add-on Flexi Multi Box that attaches to the manufactured opening of the leash handle to use for either training snacks or, as I use it, for poop-bag rolls.I believe that you will love this retractable leash for its superior design styling and ruggedness.

This stands out for quality parts and construction. It feels substantial, and it has worked well with dogs that sometimes pull at the leash. I feel like I'm in control, or at least more in control that with bargain basement leashes of a similar type. Good price, good product.

We have had many dogs and all of them were walked on a daily basis. So, we have a lot of experience with dog Leashes both retractable and fixed length. I know Flexi is probably right up there at the top in terms of expense, but they are also the best you can get. I really like this flexi with the tape type lead, they are super strong, and you do not have the issues with the regular round string like leads burning you. if you have ever had a dog move quickly and the lead slides along your skin, you know what I'm talking about, it can leave you with a serious burn mark. The wider, flat lead seems to be much more forgiving and is easier on everything from your skin to car finish, to woodwork. The Flexi's just last longer are easier to use, more comfortable to grip and I trust them much more than any other brand out there. You truly do get what you pay for in these dog leashes. Will always purchase another Flexi. The seller did a great job describing the leach and in shipping it out to us. I will purchase form this seller again when the time comes.

As expected this leash feels as nice as our older one. Although I find the handle is harder to keep a good grip on, especially with gloves on. It definitely gets scratched and dinged quicker too when it hits the ground. But the lock, retraction and overall use of the Flexi is great, I hope it lasts as well.

Tried other brands and Flexi is by far superior. Handle is slightly larger than the flexi i bought last year, now i can fit 4 fingers instead of 3. I prefer the tape over rope as it seems more durable. This has a reflective label on both sides that really stands out at night when cars go by. I prefer the braking system on flexi as it is a smooth flat button you depress to stop the tape (momentary). When you let go of the button it releases the tape. There is a recessed lock switch inside the button. Sliding this switch locks/unlocks the brake. This makes one thumb operation effortless. Bought the optional flexi poop bag holder that slides into a groove under the handle. It fits good and dispenses bags easily. Would recommend. We have 4 dogs and about 6 flexi's of various ages. Others are cheaper, but wont use any other brands but flexi. Had one tape chewed about 2ft from the end. Carefully, using a chisel and a screwdriver, I pryed open the flexi, (they use about 5 or 6 metal pins that are pressed into holes in the plastic shells) cut off the chewed part, put the tape thru the snap and sewed it together on a sewing machine using zigzag. Rewound the spring and squeezed it back together.(lining up the pins and squeeze in a vise) Good as new (except for the chisel marks) and it is shorter now. Will buy again.
