FAILED IN LESS THAN THREE YEARS! FACTORY OEM TOYOTA LASTS MUCH LONGER. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!
This is a long term follow up review to these. Purchased in 7/19 and both failed on 3/9/22! Didn't even last 3 years with not much use. They both failed this morning at the same time and the rear hatch almost struck me on my head!I was hesitant in buying these lifts because I always believe in OEM parts or replacements that MEET or EXCEED OEM specs and performance. The original lifts lasted me 7 years before becoming weak but not ever failing! These replacements are made cheaply at a low cost in Turkey and the body casings are smaller than my factory originals. They are also much lighter in weight then my originals which makes me nervous. The rear hatch is quite heavy. NOW as a follow up I'm quite regretful about having purchased these replacements. The factory lifts are obviously more heavy-duty built in appearance and performance and they lasted long enough. The cost for the factory Originals were averaging about $100 each at the time of the original order. Now they're about $35.00 each!I didn't expect much for the price I paid on these (lift support depot) and I really didnt expect them to last long. At least they bought me some time.As long as they didn't blow up in my face when opening the hatch I would be happy.I'm only giving these 2 stars now because they're not totally worth the savings. I personally don't want to worry about replacing them every few years!STICK TO GENUINE FACTORY OEM!Nothing replaces them!! I'm glad these were available because I couldn't afford the Factory Replacements at the time because I just spent quite a bit of money on the car with maintenance. In summary, if you don't mind purchasing these cheaper ones and having to replace them every few years than go for it.I'm sticking to factory OEM ORIGINAL even more so for now for every single part regardless of the cost!!Factory dealers now have their online sites for GENUINE OEM PARTS which didn't exist years ago! They discount prices and offer free shipping to dealer for local pickup.I would suggest this and you could save money on shipping as well.

Easy to install, looks just like factory part.
Used this on my 2013 Scion tC hatchback. Old factory ones were starting to leak, and I had no clue they were this worn out lol. All I have to do with the new ones is press the button and the hatch opens all the way up by itself. If I have any longevity issues, I'll update this review.

poke a little screwdriver into the gap between the clip and give it a good twist and shove and the clip pops out
Well that was one of the five easiest things I've ever done and installed on a car. Didn't even get to finish the cigarette I lit when I started this job. These come with everything needed to install, including the fastening clips. Just take a broom or a swiffer, prop the hatch up with it, poke a little screwdriver into the gap between the clip and give it a good twist and shove and the clip pops out. Then you can just pull the strut off its ball mount, top and bottom, and replace it with the new one. Repeat on the other side, and done! Even if these would last only a couple of years and you'd have to buy them again, that's still cheaper than the factory replacement ($140 for ONE last I checked). Now the hatch even lifts up all by itself!

Great for the price, light research needed if not a car guy
Works like a charm for my '11 tC. I would recommend having one person to hold the trunk while the other does the install. It was challenging to install on my own. Also if you don't have a small enough Flathead screwdriver a pocket knife works just as well to uninstall the old lifts. Recommend doing some light research on YouTube or the product site before you install as well. I did some research myself since I'm by no means a car guy and decided to give this a shot to save money. I've been ripped off by too many mechanics on relatively simple repairs. Can't find these at a cheaper price and they work great so far! These were $80 each at AutoZone and I didn't even bother with asking the dealer how much since my car is out of warranty.

Better than the original equipment.
I bought these for my 2011 Scion tC, and they were easy to install and work great. Considering the Toyota dealer wanted $300 for the same two struts (!!!) this is a great value and works as well or better than the originals, which failed prematurely in my opinion. Highly recommended product. Great instructions as well.

Product works with spoiler also!
Very easy and quick install. Took me, by myself, all of 4-5 minutes to install. Would definitely be easier with another person, but was very easy install. Works like a dream. I have a spoiler on my car and the lift supports seem to be working just fine! Even starts bringing the trunk up before it gets half way up. So future buyers, if you have a spoiler on your car, it should work for you.
