Moen's part is the one to use.
This is the correct part for my 50 yr old Moen shower / tub diverter. The only correction to note is that the Moen info site on removal of the old unit says to use a 7/8 deep well socket. There are two problems with that info. First my 50 yr. old unit needed a 1 1/16in deep well socket or a box wrench to remove it and the new item uses a 1 in deep well socket or 1 in box wrench to install. I did send Moen an e-mail on this to correct their information.

Perfect replacement
Perfect replacement for my old moen faucet. Now i have perfect pressure to the shower head. Sprayed penetrating oil in the crack and came off with chanel locks for anyone going to buy a socket just for this job...

Quality looks good and replacing it was simple...started sticking again after a short time.
I bought this to replace a diverter that was sticking and leaking (in shower mode). Access to it was simple by removing a couple of screws from the plate. Though, I did have to file/trim away part of the tile (using a Dremmel) that was covering part of the diverter. Using a one inch socket, the diverter came out and was replaced very easily. I thought I was going to have some difficulty because it had been installed over 20 years ago but to my surprise...nope, the job was done. If I get another 20 years I'll be quite satisfied! It's looks exactly like the one it replaced.UPDATE: Several months after installing this diverter it started sticking. After using the shower you have to manually pull the diverter pin back out. It's not a major issue but it should function properly while it still is reasonably new.

Quick, easy fix
Boy, I should have done this repair a long time ago! I didn't even have to turn off the water to the shower, because there is no water running through this valve unless you have the shower/tub on. Just took a 1 inch deep well socket and a pair of channel locks to turn the socket (the 1 inch deep well socket I had wasn't deep enough to clear the valve AND be able to connect a socket wrench) and I was able to get the old valve out and put the new valve in quick and easy. Sure is nice to be able to go back and forth between the shower and tub without needing a pair of pliers to move the valve :)

another quality Moen replacement
I have hard water coming from my on site Well. Therefore I have minerals in my water that tend to gum up small plumbing parts, over time. After about two years of installing my Moen shower faucet, the push button diverter became very difficult to operate. Therefore I chose to replace it after unsuccessfully attempting to clean and grease the old diverter button. I turned off the water supply, removed the Escutscheon and carefully removed the old diverter. I cleaned out the threads and installed the new diverter, making sure not to over-tighten. I turned the water back on, operated the faucet to test for leaks, and reinstalled the Escutcheon. All good!

Simply 100 percent quality . Such a precision piece
It’s so precision . I had to get it fast so wall doesn’t get ey from drip ( Moen is lifetime warranty) but let me tell you , my 1981 tap is so good . . This thing is extremely good quality original precision made super smooth and amazing thick chrome . I believe I was extended total length 2.4” short version if you had the clear handle above . Very easy to install
Solved the problem with the sticky valve. Very easy to install, but you may need to buy or borrow a 1" deep socket. No need to shut the water at the main to install this product. Check the Moen website to make sure that this this is the correct part for your faucet assembly. This is the correct part for the older faucet assemblies. (Prior 2004 I believe). There is a similar product available which for newer installations which is slightly longer.

Easy To Do
This part should have been replaced in our 30 year old shower years ago. It is a quick job to do and eliminates the tugging that we had to do to get the shower on and off. A screwdriver and a one inch deep socket are all that you need.
