No, it is plastic but sturdy and loved all around by all three of our boys (ages 4-9 years). And, the USB rechargeable feature has saved us loads on buying batteries. Even being plastic, it takes a beating like a champ. We have three styles of this type of rechargeable car and they love to play “battle and crash” and the cars are sometimes even on elevated surfaces and not one has failed or has a broken body.
