Im wanting to gold leaf a ceiling, what glue would you use and do i need to varnish after application?

I used gilded glue on my project but on a full wall you would need a lot 😳. To gold leaf it needs to remain tacky maybe a spray glue. But I would go on utube and have a look try Kacha she paints furniture and has done a wall of gold leaf in her shop. Hope that helps

Does the gold leaf need varnish after to prevent oxidiation?

Hi, yes it helps. I’ve used Copper leaf which tarnishes quite quickly and goes a green metallic colour which is the finish I was looking for. I used PVA to glue and two coats of clear Yacht varnish to seal. I’d imagine Gold doesn’t oxidise as much as copper.

Can this product go inside a lightshade

The important thing to remember is that this gold/copper leaf is lighter than a feather but it can be applied anywhere so long as you apply "sizing solution" to the surface first. You then glue the surface with a mild adhesive ( definitely not super glue) and apply the leaf onto the surface using a very lightweight brush or using your breath. I can't see any problem with the inside of a lampshade but please remember this leaf is superlight in terms of weight.
