Homeschool Kit 1998: Third Edition (Saxon Algebra 1)

Used for all my kids with school. Great for independent workers good explanations easy to read and clarify anything. However, my box did not come with an answer key for the test booklet.

ok, the material is there, but I doubt you could give this straight to many kids today. Color? No. Graphs? No Pictures, even terrible ones? No. I get that this might appeal to some adults who think a lot of modern textbooks are filled with distractions (if so I can tell you that you have not seen anything yet. Try the CMP approach) But there could be a middle ground. My husband is tutoring a bright granddaughter being homeschooled and a book meant for an older group (Aufmann, Beginning Algebra) which he at first thought might be a little too formal for a 13 year old. However, the book is now looking pretty good and he can adjust if needed.

Great price. This was the kit even though there are not photos. It came with tests and answer keys.

Excellent textbook for homeschool or for tutoring. My son goes to private math classes and his teacher asked specifically for this book. So i did what every good parent would do & bought 2 1 for her & 1 for him so they could use it for class. I also got the teacher all of the testing material as well so all she has to do is teach & grade no worries on creating tests. The tests came with an answer key which is nice for the textbook problems & the tests, which she does not need bc she is the Math Master & doesn't need it, but this would help homeschooling parents grade tests who are not good at math like me, but his tutor does all that for me thank GOD!

The schools I attended in middle school used Saxon books. I remember a great learning experience with fundamentals that I’ve carried with me since. Now we’re home schooling, and the process is easy. Easy for me to teach, easy for the to follow.

If you want a textbook with just the facts and the "nuts and bolts" of Algebra I, this is a good choice. There are no pictures or fancy charts, etc. I use this for my granddaughter and sometimes I wish there was a little more detailed explanations. But it seems to be an organized approach and she is learning quickly.
