Toshiba MG04ACA600E 6TB 3.5" SATA 6GBPS Enterprise HDD

I'm not a fan of the fact that they wipe the drive's SMART data. You don't get any idea of how much use the drive has actually seen, much less if there's anything wrong with it. I assume this is to placate stupid people or to hide how much the drives have been used.Mine is dated 2016 with zero power-on hours, so either it was new old stock (very unlikely) or they wiped the SMART data. I expected to get an actual used product with honest history, not a fake "new" drive. I'm just using it as a backup drive, so if it works, it works. R/W performance seems good.

Ordered one drives, died within an hour, 2nd one lasted about 24 hours, 3rd one died after 3 days. Got a refund for it though, company was very understandingBUY AT YOUR OWN RISK

Reading the other reviews, the users make it seem like they should be getting a new product. I buy renewed hard drive because of the significant savings. I understood going in that these drives will probably have thousands of hours of usage but that doesn’t discourage me. I have been purchasing used/refurbished enterprise drives for over 10 years. They all have come with 5-10k hours of power on time. I find that unless they have an issue upon delivery, they generally last me years. I have purchased 9 of these Toshiba 6tb drives and of those, I have had 2 drives arrive DOA but that comes with the territory. The seller offered to refund or replace the product. Getting a 6tb renewed/used hard drive at $55 is a killer price. Way better than paying the $140-$200 they go for brand new.

Having been burned my Seagate more than once, I looked to other brands and found Toshiba to be an affordable alternative with good performance. Keep in mind, you will hear this drive, it's not silent -- but it is fast and for this price, it is worth getting two! I'm using it as a backup drive so it's not running all the time, but after a few months, it's posed no problem inside an external enclosure with a few other drives.
