Let's be honest... there isn't much you can do to improve a garage door opener (I mean, it's a garage door opener). But this is one device that everyone should have! No more laying in bed, wondering if the garage door got left open.It was easy to pair (took all of 20 seconds). Works flawlessly. And gives a clear indication if the garage door is open or closed (either green or red light). If the door does happen to be open; you can remotely close it from the unit.Highly recommended.

For quite a few years I've wanted a way to know if my garage door is open since I can't see it from inside the house. I was looking for some sort of battery operated switch that would transmit a signal when I came across this wonderful device.This is an amazing product. It has a blinking red light to show when the door is open and an optional audio beeping sound that you can adjust the volume level.There's a button to close the door, so you don't have to go to the garage to do it. When you close it the opener beeps loudly for about 5 seconds while blinking the light to warn anyone who happens to be in the garage. Very nice.A green LED indicates the doors fully closed.It's incredibly easy to set up. You just press the Learn button on the side of the control, then press the Yellow button on the garage door opener. You're done.

k i love this thing. My garage was constantly left open. My neighbors sometimes would have to come tell me to shut the door I didn't know was left open. since getting this device that mistake has never happened again. easy to put anywhere you need it for easy convenience.

One morning I woke up to find the garage door had been open all night. My daughter said she heard loud knocking around midnight. Someone could have easily (and may actually have) entered our house. After this experience I knew I had to do something for peace of mind. I looked for the older mechanical version of this device where you actually place a level monitor on the garage door but could not find it. Luckily I ran across this one and I am very happy with it.This monitor was easy to set up and works great. I can see that my garage door is securely closed with a glance at the green light on the monitor. If the garage door is opened from the outside (presumably by an approaching car) the monitor beeps three times alerting you. If the garage door stays remains open the monitor will beep once every few minutes. The beeping can be silenced but I love it. You can also close you garage door from inside the house with the push of a button on the monitor. When you do this the garage door opener (closer) will beep alerting anyone in the vicinity of the door. Note that your garage door opener must be My Q compatible.

This device is designed to plug in to an AC power outlet inside your home and let you know with simple red or green lights if your garage door is open or closed. If the door is open the red light will flash brightly. If the door is closed the green light will glow. If the door is open you can close it using a button on the monitor.Here are the key things you need to know:1. Although sold by Liftmaster this monitor will work with any garage door opener that has the MyQ feature installed, regardless of brand. Liftmaster openers are sold under the Chamberlain and Sears Craftsman brand names, among others. MyQ is a feature that connects to your home WiFi system and permits you to operate enabled products (garage door and gate openers) using an app on a smartphone. It is built in to many of the newer openers and can be added to any “MyQ-enabled” opener. Note that MyQ does require you to have WiFi and also have a smartphone.2. This is not exactly the same as the remote opener on your garage wall or outside wall in that it will NOT open the door, the push button will only close the door from wherever you have the monitor plugged in.3. There is no real installation, just plug it in, push a small button on the back and within 60 seconds press the “learn” button on your garage door opener. They instantly pair and recognize each other.4. Some of the user questions and answers are a little misleading … there are actually two different “alert tones” involved. One is a beeper inside the monitor that can be set to warn you if the garage door is being opened. This is a great security feature or just a nice convenience to give you a heads-up that someone is home. Our garage door is so silent I have been startled more than once to find a family member walk up who I didn’t know was home. The beep sound like the one in your microwave and has a 3-position volume control or you can turn it off, and when turned on it will give a short beep occasionally to remind you that the garage door is open. The other alert tone is actually built in to your garage door motor unit and sounds if you close your garage door using any MyQ remote device (smartphone, this monitor, etc). It is a loud beep that sounds like an alarm clock and it can’t be turned off because it is a required safety feature. If you close your door remotely the tone will sound a loud beep first to warn anyone near the garage to stand clear of the door, then it waits a few seconds before starting the motor to close the door.5. This monitor can be used with up to 4 openers (garage door or gate) but it will only tell you that one or more of them is open, not which one or how many. When you push the “close” button ALL of the doors will close at once.I have been considering buying this monitor for a very long time but what kept me away is I didn’t think I would like the design. In the product description it looks like it has to be placed on a tabletop or counter and you have to look straight down at it to see the lights. I thought a wall-mounted unit would have been a better design. After I got it, I plugged it in and put it on a low cabinet that we can see while watching TV, which puts it at about eye level. We can easily see the lights from that angle. It happens to be next to the stairwell so it is the last thing we see before going up to bed so we can be assured that the garage doors are closed before we turn in. The peace of mind is worth every penny this device costs, and the convenience of having a subtle alert when someone comes home is a nice bonus. This device works exactly as expected and I think it is a good value at the price.
