If you’re on the fence about this- get it
I love my haakaa. Love it so much I ended up buying a second one so that I could go longer between cleaning. It sticks right on to whatever breast your baby isn’t feeding on and catches the milk that comes out during let down. I’ve been on maternity leave and feeding my baby on demand from the breast, so I don’t often have time to pump between feedings, but this has helped me to build up a stash in case I need to leave a bottle while I go to an appointment or for when I return to work. I’m able to catch between .5 and 1 oz every time I use it which may not sound like a ton but adds up and really helps. The only issue I’ve ever had is that if my baby is super fussy while I’m feeding her she kicks at it and can knock it off, but I just don’t use it for those sessions when she’s fussy. Even just using it when she’s calm (and when I actually remember to grab it) I’ve gotten a lot of extra milk this way! At first I wasn’t sure how to store such small amounts and ended up wasting some bags freezing an ounce or so at a time lol, but now what I do is use it, pour it into a bottle in the fridge (or just stick the haakaa in the fridge if I don’t need to clean it right away to reuse it), then the second time I use it I pour the original bottle into a bag, pour the new milk into another bottle, and repeat throughout the day- when I have four ounces or so I freeze the bag! You just have to remember to let the amount from each session cool separately in the fridge before combining it. It only catches foremilk so if you’re worried about a foremilk/hindmilk imbalance and are able to fully pump even once a day or every few days just combine it with what you fully pumped before storing it. Oh, and it’s dishwasher safe which is a huge plus!

Wonderful, simple, gentle; can’t believe I’m just now discovering this
I am on my second child, have pumped with Medela Symphony and PISA with first baby, as well as a Willow with this baby. I didn’t realize how much damage using the wrong pump or incorrectly using a pump could do. Nursing was never comfortable with my first child due to injury from pumping too long to create a supply for returning to work. This time working with a lactation consultant, even with some supply issues due to a sleepy baby, I learned that nursing was going better without pumping in the first few weeks. The Haakaa was suggested for gentle pumping with nursing. I watched a few videos, received it overnight with Prime, tried it this morning and had no problems. I can’t believe how much time, pain, tears and dollars I wasted when I could have bought this. My biggest problem will be keeping my 3yo away because she thinks it’s beautiful and wants to play with it.Pros: gentler than other non-hospital grade pumps I’ve used. Worked well when used while breastfeeding on other side. I have a 3week old, had milk slow to come in and got 3oz total after morning nursing both sides. Passive suction works pretty well, essentially like a Jackson Pratt drain if you have a medical background. Most affordable type of pump I’m aware of.Flower plug is super cute and does actually work when turned upside down.Cons: an active baby could knock it off of you by kicking.Probably less effective than other pumps at removing milk, especially if going back to work or not simultaneously nursing. I had some supply/baby weight gain issues early and this would not have fixed those. Not as discreet as other pumps for use in car, etc.Easy to tip over. Get one with the suction base.Overall this is a wonderful tool for me right now, with an established supply and a goal of building a store for night feeds by partner and return to work.Do yourself a favor and buy this sooner on your journey than I did.

Worth every penny! Get it now!
I purchased this product a week after my daughter was born a month ago. Honestly I didn’t know much about it and only took the advice to buy it off someone off of YouTube. When I first received it I wasn't sure how to use it, or it’s purpose so I put it to the side for about a week because my assumption was that it was a handheld pump that you squeeze and manually pump milk out (yes I didn’t do my research). It wasn’t until a week later when I would nurse my daughter and the breast that I wasn’t feeding off of would leak like crazy! Finally I read up on the Haakaa and decided to suction it on while feeding and wow! Amazing! Sometimes I only get 1 oz. But that 1 oz is something I’m so proud of! I’ve gotten up to 4 oz by just suctioning this on my breast! I also normally only use one flange at a time while using my electric pump so I use the haakaa on the opposite breast. I’m a first time mom and 100% recommend this to any mommy that will be breastfeeding or pumping for their little ones. Def will be an item i put in a gift bag for any baby shower I attend in the future!
