This Works, No Need for Bottom Strap
I received the LG strap. It had two split adjacent soft rubber cylindersattached to the horizontal strap, with the Round Surface of the Cylinderspressing onto the lower achilles tendon insertion. I found it comfortable. However the vertical loop that goes under the heel is not necessary, alsonot adjustable, so I cut it off. Now I just position the horizontal bandat the back of my ankle, just above the malleolus area. The soft cylinderspress on the achilles tendon, and help with my plantar fascitis. At the same time I wear this simple band across my foot, at the arch.Which is another product, sold on Amazon. ("Pedifix Arch Bandage")Lastly get: Tuli's Heavy Duty Gel Heel Cups to soften the impact on your heel. These THREE product have helped me more than anything else. I also evensleep with the Pedifix Arch Bandage. However it must not be too tightof a fit, or it can decrease the flood circulation in the distal foot.It just needs to lift the arch in a comfortable manner. It should notbe too loose either.I wear these around the house and also to work. I have had a 90% improvementsince I began using these 3 products. What is strange is I began with a simple ACE wrap. I discovered if I wrappedthe Foot Arch several times, then ran the ACE up and around the baseof my Achilles I had much less pain at work. Well these two products do aboutthe same thing, and I don't have to use any ACE wrap.Best of Luck with your Plantar Fasciitis

Really Works for Support!
I bought this for my brother for Christmas. He has problems with Achilles Tendonitis and I thought this might help him. He loves to go for walks in the mornings but because of it, he hasn't done his walk for about a month. A few days after Christmas, he called to tell me how thrilled he was with the McDavid 436 Achilles Tendon Support; he actually said, "I had no idea how much this was going to help me, but it did." He used it on his walks and is now back up to his 7-laps around our local park! So glad that I bought this for him!

Great support; relieved my pain after a few wears.
I started running after taking 7 months off for ligament damage to the top of my foot. After a few treadmill runs, I started getting achilles tendon pain, which I guess was due to the fact that I hadn’t stretched it much while wearing a boot and nursing the other injury. So, I ordered this, which gives great achilles support, and now I’ve been running for two solid weeks, pain-free. It’s easy to put on and hold up well in the washing machine. It’s easy to adjust just where along the tendon the pressure is applied by adjusting the effective length of the strap that goes under the heal. The amount of pressure is adjusted using the ankle strap. Another solid product from McDavid. I highly recommend.

This Works!
This support works great. The tubular buttress relieves pressure at the point where the tendon attaches to the heel. Simple and effective. Would be difficult to wear with shoes, but with backless sandals or clogs it's great. Not effective for long periods of time, I use it when my Achilles is sore from over exertion or strain. It almost instantly relieves 80 to 90% of the pain. My tendonitis is pretty bad and I use this support at least once or twice a day. It has never failed to give me major relief. I recommend it highly.

It works, just don't use it too much
I bought this strap and it does work. As many other reviewers have said, the strap is a bit longer than expected when you loop it around the bottom of the foot. It's okay for me because I don't wear it that much and only if i need it.Speaking of wearing this strap. The strap isn't supposed to be worn all time. The item says on the back of the box, one should only wear it for 2 to 3 hours and then take it off. I think this is true because you don't want to have your foot get too depended on using the strap and so, only wear it when needed. The strap is good if you want to keep the achilles tendon from moving around so much and making the foot more stable. Since my achilles tendon injury, I only tend to use it to work out in. I used to wear it just walking around places, but my achilles got better and now I'm okay without it now.I do recommend this product, if you have achilles injury that is healing.

The strap around the Achilles is actually comfortable if it is on over socks
Fits well inside of shoe, but the strap that goes under the heel usually ends up sliding back behind the heel. Keep in mind that I use this mostly playing softball so this happens while sprinting and running bases. The strap around the Achilles is actually comfortable if it is on over socks, and can be adjusted with the Velcro to whatever is comfortable.

Perfect!
His has helped my Achilles Tendonitis recovery tremendously. Keeps support and compression in the right spot, and as my ankle heals I moved the brace up to change circulation. Along with icing, stretches and exercises it's been instrumental. It keeps me from overdoing extensions when in on the go!

I would suggest follow the manufacturer's suggestions regards choosing your size
I originally decided to follow the advice of the reviews suggesting to buy a larger size, people were complaining about the strap popping of if it was too small a fit. Ended up the larger size was too large, and it felt like it gave hardly any heel lift when walking. So I returned it, plus I bought the smaller size. Admittedly it's a much neater fit, but at least it does provide the lift. It dismantles very rarely but that's no big deal, I'd rather it have the right effect than having no effect. So I would suggest follow the manufacturer's suggestions regards choosing your size. Achilles tendonitis is an annoying and hindering ailment, as we all need to walk don't we. Over use at the gym is the conclusion as to the cause of mine - ironically on the crosstrainer - which is viewed by some as a good activity for folk who have achilles tendonitis. My physio also thinks that me using superfeet innersoles in all my shoes the last couple of years may not have been such a good idea for my ankles. I'm apparently an underpronator and he has reservations of my having used them. There seems to be a number of reasons for tendonitis, ageing and overuse & possibly wrong types of shoes being likely ones. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Good price, quick delivery and better than expected!
I bought both the Mueller Cho-Pat Achilles tendon strap and the Mcdavid Achilles Tendon. This puts me in a fairly unique position - I can compare and review both. Why buy both? I really did need support for my achilles tendon or else give up football - I had to try both. Both products do the job and both fit with a football boot with comfort. It is too early to decide which one is best at the job but at this moment I would go with the Mcdavid for the following reasons:- the Mcdavid is made of flexible neoprene. This allows you to control the amount of pressure on the tendon.- the product is better than described because it has two rubber sections on the heal section applying the pressure. The Cho-Pat uses constant pressure with little give. This constant pressure may in the end be better for the job in hand but for now I will go with the Mcdavid.- much cheaper - but not so important - got to do a a jobIn terms of fitting, both products are identical in size (size L). Both are ever so slightly big for me but this was better than them being too small. I add a little neoprene from an old support to the front of them and they fit perfectly with comfort. My shoe size is 8.5uk and would consider myself a medium build (small ankles)- 11-12 stone is my ideal weight. This will give you an indication as to what to go for.I will update this review on both products.14/3/2013 Update - forgot about coming back to update review.Back playing football with no issues with tendons. No longer use them. A break in the football did help as well as ice packs being applied to tendons. Have also increased height inside the shoes under the heal - raising the heal to decrease pressure on tendon.I ended up using both, for both legs, for a period which allowed me to get some fitness. Getting fit seems to have prevented the return of the soreness

Costly Experiment...
Admittedly I have not had a proper diagnosis for my Achilles tendon issues so I took a chance on this item as we have a holiday looming, an active 4 year old and all the physio in the world is not going to heal me in two weeks. So in essence it was agony when I put it on and it did have to come straight off...not a great surprise sadly...but what was a HUGE surprise is that when I came to do the refund the system calmly informed me that I was going to 'lose' £6.01 of my refund costs to the cost of return postage. Now this is completely within Amazons policies as this is counted as a Sports Item HOWEVER if there had been some kind of indication on the selling page that you lose over half of the item when returned this may well have affected my decision to purchase...especially on such a low value item.Again I know I have no leg to stand on policy wise but I can't help feeling just a tad deceived and considerably out of pocket. I did raise this with seller when the refund was requested but they just issued the refund and have not come back to me on my comments.(PS Amazon I can't leave this on feedback as the order is not available to be fedback on...probably because a refund has been issued?)

Good but not perfect
A pretty good simple affordable product, the McDavid Achilles support is very easy to use. It's not a cure but it will allow you to function, be it light jogging etc. Do not overtighten as this only aggravates the tendon more. I use this support with strapping and a heel raise and I am hoping it will get me to the end of my sport season so that I can get proper treatment, REST!!!!

not the most comfortable of straps
Hurts a little when the velcro digs into your skin, not the most comfortable of straps. Never had an Achilles tendon problem before. Will try not to get another one...
