I am sorry the shelves are not adjustable. They can only be put in one position.

Online pictures can be deceiving.
They look fine in person, as we just went to IKEA last night. They look like what you'd expect a $25 bookcase to look like. The problem we had is that these units are NOT white like most of their other white furniture. They're an off white cream color that is close but no cigar. If you're looking to match any of their white furniture, forget about it.

Missing essentials to assemble
This item arrive slightly damaged and without the pegs and brackets needed to assemble. Waste of time to get and return.
