my new favorite rachel lynn solomon book and I've read almost all of them!
(Disclaimer: I received this book from the publisher. This has not impacted my review which is unbiased and honest.)I don't think I can properly describe how much I love time loops and time travel. My obsession has been steadily growing and so See You Yesterday delivers an un-explainable dopamine rush. If you love time loops or time travel, you have to read this, conversation done. At the same time, if you love Rachel Lynn Solomon's ability to write nuanced, complex, and emotional characters, pick this one up. See You Yesterday features Barrett and Miles who have seriously charmed me.There's a snark to Barrett and a wit that instantly told me, "you get me". I love how wry she is, how she has this deep seated passion, and also this complex history and vulnerability. Barrett has a love of storytelling, a curiosity to unravel people, and it's infectious. Barrett is one of those characters who just resonated within my soul. At the same time, Miles is a character who made me laugh, shed a tear, and smile.

romance <3
See You Yesterday is a fast paced romance story about an endless time loop that miles and barret find themselves trapped in. It's an enemies to lovers, it had me crying, laughing, in my feels, back to crying. I loved it so much, it's one of the first romance books I'd ever read and has convinced me to read more of her books!

sweet
Barrett Bloom did not enjoy high school. But it is her first day of college and she is determined that things will be better here. She’ll find herself and her people and have all of the experiences she’s been wanting to have. But then her first day is a disaster. Her roommate hates her, she hasn’t done the assigned reading, and then she accidentally sets a frat house on fire. She goes to bed defeated. But then she wakes up. And it’s September 21st. Again…She meets Miles in her physics class. After a couple of days (always September 21st), she realizes something is different about him. And it turns out that he is stuck in the loop too. And has been for longer than she has. Together the two of them resolve to get to the bottom of the mystery. Miles is a physics major and believes there must be a scientific reason for what is happening. Barrett thinks the universe is telling them something. She tries to right wrongs, live life to the fullest, and do good deeds. The two of them butt heads a lot. But then they start to grow together. This one was really sweet. Two misfits find each other and help each other to face their fears and become their best selves

Time-Loop Romance worked for me
I have read most of Rachel Lynn Solomon’s books and I can say that See You Yesterday was my favourite to date. We follow Barrett and Miles as they embark on their first day of college… with a twist. Both of them are stuck in a (Groundhog-day-like) time loop. Until they can figure out how to return to their original timeline, they are doomed to repeat their first day of college over and over again.I liked that this wasn’t just a straightforward romance. Both characters had layered storylines as they were grappling with personal issues in addition to the time loop challenge. This made it a more interesting read. Minor characters Max (Miles’ brother) and Lucie (Barrett’s roommate) also made this story more interesting. With many major and minor events going on, it kept the story moving for the most part. I typically dislike Groundhog Day plots and find them boringly repetitive. However, this one was not like that for me, which was a welcome surprise. One last thing I liked was the plus/regular size woman rep. It was really well done with a light touch that felt right.A few minor probably-just-me things I didn’t like about this book:1. The over-repetition of last names… it’s a staple of Solomon’s books that I never enjoy.2. Miles’ characteristic of “holding back his smiles” was way overdone. It was mentioned again and again, but the thing is… this guy smiled a LOT if you count them up, so it didn’t ring true and got painfully repetitive.3. Barrett’s Mom’s storyline… it felt contrived to me like the narrative was trying really hard to sell me on this being important to Barrett, but it felt like a major force-fit.Overall though, a good read, especially for Rachel Lynn Solomon fans.
