Same as factory original.
99 Toyota Tacoma 3.4L 4wd. Perfect fit for my truck. Same exact brand and model number. Only problem I had was getting the 'expletive' plug out of the back of the old alternator. No fault of the alternator, more of a poor design by Toyota for putting the alternator plug just below the oil fill on the valve cover. Inevitably there will be oil spilled on the alternator plug in over the years. I think this led to me breaking the factory plug when I was unplugging it. That thing was cooked into the old alternator. I ended up ordering a replacement plug on Amazon, pictured. Not a huge deal, just a few wires to splice together.Hope this helps someone.

Don't waste your money
Alternator lasted 7 days. Should have known quality control was non-existent when the box arrived completely torn apart - not from the shipping company, but because the shipper used a box that had previously been torn apart and then re-secured with a single piece of tape just a couple inches long over the lid. No effort to secure or pad the item for transport. The alternator also arrived coated in road grime as if it had been taken out of one vehicle and immediately dropped into the box for reshipment. Biggest complaint: I was sent a defective part . It fit in my vehicle nicely, as it should, and upon installation it was putting out 14.2v and 13.8v under load. 7 days later it was only putting out 10v and it killed my new battery in the process. Complete junk. The only bright spot was Amazon refunding me immediately after I sent it back.

quality replacement alternator for Gen 3 4Runner
So far so good. I installed the replacement Denso alternator a couple of weeks ago and it has cured the charging issue my truck was experiencing. The original alternator had been in service for 339K miles and I had hoped to replace with an OEM part. Way too expensive! The guy at Toyota did me a solid though and said make sure to buy a Denso. The installation is pretty simple for any competent shade tree mechanic. Also of note; with high mileage vehicles of this type you are likely going to need to replace the tensioner/adjuster. Mine was rusted solid and sheared off when I laid into it with a breaker bar.

Very nice
At around 210,000 miles the battery light came on in my 4runner. Intermittently at first, then constant. Cranking the heaterfan or switching on headlights didn't seem to have an affect, but the overall brightness of the headlights seemed dimmer than usual and the dash lights were also darker.Asked my local mechanic who said it was the alternator. Checked dealership who confirmed it was the alternator and asked for $600 to replace.Looked around online and this brand / make is the OEM part for my 4runner. Ordered via prime, visited my library and took notes from chiltons and other reference manuals. Bought a nice torque wrench, and replaced. Replacing was a little harder than I expected (tight space etc) but not bad at all.My truck is perfect again. Lights are as bright as they should be.

No DENSO Warrenty
Save yourself the hassle, don’t buy a remanufactured alternator without the original manufacturer’s warranty. First one I order came damaged, that was a sign I should of took. The replacement didn’t shred my belt this time, but it started to fail after 2 months, now at 3 months it’s a $200 paper weight. DENSO only warrants the Original End User.
