Time to give Mavis her walking papers!
This is not one of those cutesy titles that only pretends to be about education. This is an extremely well-designed, well-thought-out program that effectively teaches typing (i.e., keyboarding). Anything even remotely associated with The Lion King may trigger the gag reflex in survivors of the whole Lion King blitzkrieg, but rest assured: Timon and Pumba do not have center stage here; the lessons do. Never sacrificing the functional for the cute or gimmicky, this program is structured, yet adaptive, and uses a gradual progression of exercises to provide just the right degree of challenge as the user progresses. In other words, the program captivates by providing variation (to keep things from getting dull) and by making the goal seem easy while maintaining just the right level of difficulty. Both my wife and nine-year-old were instantly hooked and have progressed dramatically. I do have a few minor complaints (for example, icons for navigating through the program could be more intuitive or--Heaven forbid--identified with actual words), but overall, this is a finely crafted tool that condenses a one-semester high school typing class (of yore) onto a single CD-ROM--but without the boring teacher.

CD broke after 2 times using it
At first I was very excited to get this CD from the company since my son is dyslexic and a teacher told me this was a great way to help him. It came quickly in the mail and the first time I used it, it worked fine. But the next time I loaded it, the CD didn't work at all so I'm very disappointed of course. The computer screen just turned all different colors and it was obvious that it was a bad quality CD. I would and should have returned it, but obviously for the price I paid, it really didn't make sense to go and pay shipping or make the extra trip to the post office for this. Still if the company happens to read this, I would be very appreciative if they felt that they could just find my past information and mail me another one of these Disney's Adventures in Typing programs that actually works. If not, than I guess I learned my lesson to try to only buy new CD's from now on.

Problems with the graphics
I bought this to support my grandson in his typing skills. I'm sure it would have been a great tool for him but the graphics are too sophisticated for any of our computers (and they're not that old). I recommend you carefully look at the graphics required before purchasing this item.

Yes he can be taught
I bought this for my granddaughter, age 7. She wasn't particularly interested. She apparently has no interest in typing and the game didn't intrigue her. I was disappointed. I was hoping it would help her with things like punctuation and capitalization. However, my 45 year old son in law is now using it to learn to type. Apparently, it's a good teaching tool if one wants to learn. Maybe when my granddaughter gets a little older...

Works Great on Windows XP
Shipped quickly! I copied the whole CD to my hard drive and then did the installation from that folder. I don't have to use the CD when my kids use Pumba & Timon Adventures in Typing. The colors are vibrant and the program is very engaging. I have four children all but one have learned to type with this program. I bought the CD again so my youngest can learn to type.I just wish that Disney Interactive would update their product so it would run with Windows 7.

Mini typist
I got this for my 4 yr old, who has older siblings that have typing cd-roms to learn with. She loves this cd and has her homerow down pack now! It's fun and engaging for her even though it's rated for children 6 and up. I really think the more opportunity you give to a child at a younger age...there really is just no limit to what they can achieve.

Typing with Timon & Pumbaa
We can't get this to work on our computer - blurry letters, and can't get it to play. Can't tell if I would like it or not. Not the fault of the person we got it from though - it came very quickly and was still in its package.
