I love this grinder! OK, first let me say, I'm kinda new to coffee, meaning I only recently started making my own at home, cause I bought myself a ninja coffee machine from here on Amazon. So I went to the grocery to get coffee, and then I faced a decision, do I buy a bag of already ground coffee? Or whole beans? I figured whole beans must be fresher so I checked Amazon quickly how much a grinder will cost, I saw one from this exact brand actually, Proctor Silex, for only like $12. So I ordered that grinder right away, and bought the bag of whole beans (from Peet's), and I've been using that for like a month now, daily, grinding the coffee right before brewing it has been amazing. But the one issue I was running into, is that if I wanted a coffee late at night, it would be a big issue cause of the noise of the grinder, I live in a urban area so my neighbors wouldn't appreciate that. So when I was desperate I'd wrap the grinder in towels to muffle the sound a little, but it was still really loud. So my first try at solving this was, to buy a manual grinder, I figured I'd use that when I can't make noise. But..... Alas that didn't work out at all, cause the grinder I got is just so slow that it would take me hours to grind a few scoops. So that didn't work. But now when I came across this item, I was like ok, that seems worth a try, it's the same brand as my current grinder, doesn't even cost much more... So I got it. And bingo! Seems like my problem is solved this time. Yes it still makes some noise of course, but way way WAY less than my other one. And there is another thing I like about this one, that the coffee plate part comes out, so after grinding I can just take out the plate with the grounded coffee to pour into the machine filter thing. So that's a added convenience of this machine that I love. So I'm very happy with this purchase, it solved the noise problem for me, and it seems to work great.

This is a GREAT coffee grinder! After purchasing two Hamilton Beach grinders that had declined in quality since the last one I owned, and were as loud as airplane engines, this one is far and away the best grinder out there. 1. It's quiet. The sound shield really does work, it just emits a low grinding sound - you can carry on a conversation while it's operating. 2. Easy to use. The inner lid locks easily and you just place the clear sound shield over it and press down. No fiddly little buttons, super easy! 3. The inner metal grind bowl comes right out for cleaning, replace it by just dropping it back in its place. Nothing to snap, totally simple. 4. Grinds evenly and fast - about 10 seconds for 2 tablespoons of beans. 5. The cord is a good length, and there is capacity to wind it around under the unit. However, since I use it everyday I just wrap it around the grinder - it's not super easy to stow the cord, but the other features outweigh that slight inconvenience that I wouldn't drop the star rating for it! In short, BUY THIS GRINDER! It's an absolute winner!

Excellent! It grinds ALL the beans evenly and fast. The cord could be longer, but its similar to all grinders. I love the "quiet" lid for neatness reasons, but is not super quiet. The removable grinding cup is a great feature. Also the activation, which is simply pressing down on the lid. Super value.

I've had this now for 3 months and I grind my coffee almost every day. It does have an extra plastic top so it muffles the sound of the grinder, but it is not 100% quiet. I would say its about 70% quieter than a regular grinder. The grind itself is good and it grinds fast. It is a quality product, not flimsy. The plastic is sturdy, as are the stainless steel blades. Its easy to work as I have arthritis in my hands. Its easy to clean either with a dish-cleaning wand or throw it in the dishwasher (top shelf) for a deep clean.

I love my coffee grinder. I like that the bowl come out to empty the granules. The large lid that covers everything does help to lower the amount of noise. I find the Proctor Silex grinder more convenient than my old one. I do recommend this product.

I’m not experienced with coffee grinders, this being my first. It is good quality well made and grinds fast, has large capacity for its size. Safe to use. Easy to empty into my brewer k cup. Very happy!

Not silent, but a huge improvement over every other coffee grinder I've used. The additional cover also keeps things clean, no more bits of coffee on my countertop! The removable tray makes it easier to pick up and dump the ground coffee into my pourover cleanly.

Quiet - Maybe 50% more quiet than the regular ones. But I would not say that quiet. If someone was sleeping in the same room and that is on, they would hear it. Feel as if the trade off with this is quiet vs everything else. In terms of being able to scoop the coffee out the cup with ease, it is not the same as the loud one. The cutter is more loose. The space between the metal and plastic of that cup is also loose. When you wash it, the water is in between. Even when you think it looks dry, if you turn it down and tap on it, the water will come out even 2 days later. The bottom part of it is also loose which is part of the cutter. Why is the water in between an issue? When you're trying to grind and keep it dry the whole time vs. have wet grounds to use for later, not helpful. 1 is it shouldn't take more than a day for anything to dry of that size. Much less 2 or 3 days after you tap it enough times to let out any water that is in between. Makes it very frustrating to keep the coffee dry when it takes so long to dry the whole cup. Over all experience doesn't make it so good to use. Unlike some, it doesn't have a setting to grind more evenly each time vs. you have to press on it the whole time. Some you set it to grind how you like and it does so hands free. This one you have to hold it down till it grinds to what looks fine enough. The main issue with the regular ones is the noise. Everything else works fine and is less bulky. This one, the pro is more quiet, but everything else makes it high maint. to use.

Hasta el día de hoy, me encuentro satisfecho con el producto. Muele perfectamente el café en muy corto tiempo y la cantidad de café molido que se obtiene es mucho más de lo que necesito para 5 tazas. Su único pero, que no cuente con cepillo limpiador.

J'ai attendu un moment pour le recevoir mais ça valait la peine. Très efficace et très silencieux. Je m'en sert pour broyer des noix et grains comme le lin.

Love this grinder. I use it to grind lemongrass for cooking and get a fine ground herb. Quiet and easy of use.
