In my opinion, the directions from Magellan are more helpful than some of the most popular brands. And that is why you buy a GPS, right? I was surprised and pleased with how long the power cord is - 5 ft. I have a Ford Escape and found it most helpful to drape the cord low over the steering column near the dash, then mount the GPS unit and holder on my driver's side door window. With the long cord I can even open the door at a (safe) destination without disconnecting the GPS (of course, going through a drive-thru is a different matter). It is very natural to glace over to check the route, or the side rear view mirror, then eyes right back forward. The traffic warning seems a bit sensitive, but you have the option to continue on current route or take an alternate - and it tells you how long either route should take. I live in the Midwest, but not long ago I used this on my first trip to LA. This was extremely helpful on the multiple lane expressway ramps. As with any GPS one may use, YOU still must be careful, and it is very helpful if you have a very good idea in mind of the roads in the area and the route you may take. An informed brain is still best.

What did it say? I couldn't hear it.
I had a Magellan Maestro for many years, but the maps have long been outdated, and my phone GPS never seems to cooperate, so I decided to get a new GPS. I looked at several options, and decided to go back to Magellan, because I was happy with my old one. I bought this unit. What a step down! The things I liked about it were the fact that it tells you the speed limit on the road you're on, which is handy when posted signs are few and far between, or if the speed limit drops unexpectedly. It shows you which lanes to use for junctions. It offers lifetime map updates and has traffic alerts. Peachy.Unfortunately, YOU CAN'T HEAR THE DIRECTIONS! Well, you can, if you have your windows closed, the music is off, and no one else is in the car. Basically, this thing is WAY too quiet. Since I like to listen to music when I'm driving, or sometimes I drive with the top down, this is a big problem for me.By comparison to the Maestro, this thing is not only too quiet, but the computerized voice it uses to give you directions sounds horrible. If you're expecting the voice quality of the old Maestro, or the quality of Alexa, you're in for a disappointment. It's choppy and sounds like something like a female version of Text-to-Voice from Windows 98 (but quietly, of course). So, having owned this briefly and used it for one trip, only to discover I couldn't listen to my music if I wanted to know where I was going, I got in touch with Magellan. After checking the volume settings (yes, I know how to set the volume), they offered to replace it--with a different model, a refurbished unit only, and I had to pay shipping to send mine in. So, basically, because they made a unit with poor volume, I'm supposed to pay shipping to take someone else's used problem unit instead to solve the problem (maybe). No, thanks. I pointed out that this one is brand new and that I'm a returning customer (you know, that whole customer loyalty thing), but no, they wouldn't do anything else about it. I could pay money for someone's used junk, or I could live with it.To say I'm displeased is an understatement. I'm so sorry I bought this unit, and buying from Magellan is a mistake I won't make again.

Battery Problem
Hi friends, Don't go for this GPS as I brought it and after charged first time as described by product manual, I came to know that battery is not working at all. Even I can't start GPS without plug in the charger. I tried to contact support but they didn't respond me properly. I like other feathers of this GPS but main thing is working so I am really very disappointed with this GPS. Thanks.

Works great and like the smaller size
I have an older model and use it a lot. So when my Granddaughter wanted one smaller than mines this is what I got. She is very happy with it and now I don't worry about her getting lost
