HP toner/ink refills are overpriced and do not contain a full load of ink. For 17 years I worked for a manufacturer of plotter/printer ink cartridges and they were overpriced too. That is the nature of the beast. Sell the printers cheap and gouge the consumer on the ink cartridges. I don't like it, but need to use my printer, so I buy them anyway. However, I try to be very conservative and only print when I really have to. I read more things online or save them to my computer instead of printing everything. When I produce my newsletters or booklets I used to print at least 6 drafts over the course of working on each project (between 12 to 48 pages). Now I only print one at the very end when the project is nearly complete and I need to do a final check before publication. I also only email proofs instead of printing a proof for others to review. I also get at least an extra month out of my cartridges, because when I begin to get the "needs ink" message, I shake the cartridge every few days until every last drop of toner is gone and it won't print anymore. Most people throw out their cartridges before they are actually empty and waste about 10% of their toner. There is always more than one way to skin a cat, but I still don't like the overpriced ink/toner cartridges. Other than the high price, the quality of the product is very good.

This is my second order for this toner so it has obviously worked for me. However, I only use it at home and can't honestly tell you how many pages it has printed out. This toner has definitely worked well though with no problems at all. All pages have printed clear and dark with no lines on the sides or any smudging anywhere.I have printed mostly text with very little need for full pages of black and white pictures...but when I have had to print those out they have been fine and all of the shades of gray have also been fine.For the difference in cost I highly recommend this toner. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because it only lasted 8-9 months. There is no way I printed out 2500 pages in that time...which is what they are claiming this cartridge will do. Actually I would be surprised if I have printed even 1000 pages in that time...probably not.

This is a modified review per request of the seller. Originally, the HP 49A toner cartridge was advertised as the HP product, not using the word "compatible" or remanufactured in the title line. It said by HP, as the product ad still does as offered by 5 other sellers. And it uses a picture of the HP box. Thus, advertised as HP toner, but not HP toner. It is misleading. When complained about and brought to the seller's attention and Amazon's attention, Amazon gave me a full refund immediately without question, or even asking me if I wanted to keep and use the toner. So Amazon acted on the misleading advertisement without delay, and sent a UPS return label. Seller also apologized and offered a refund. The seller has now also removed his listing from this ad, and will not have it promoted as a genuine HP product. So InktonerPlus has acknowledged the improper display on the ad, and done the right thing by not promoting it this way any longer. They offer other compatible and remanufactured toner cartridges, and those ads are labeled that way on Amazon. InktonerPlus has shown that they will communicate with customers and that they do want to improve upon their customer service. It is good that they care. My initial comments and theirs have been removed from this updated review.

I have used this type of toner for years for my 10-year-old HP laserjet printer. It's the major expense of operating a printer. This brand never seems to provide as many copies as it advertises, but the various times I've used off-brands, it's about the same, so I don't bother shopping around much anymore. The past 3 years I've done my best to print information on paper as little as possible and go paperfree as much as I can, so over time this product has become something I rarely use. Which means that these days, a cartridge that previously was used up with about 2000-2200 copies in a year, now lasts me for 3-4 years.

I have bought many of these items over the years. I always by Original HP products, which is what the description said. This toner cartridge arrived wrapped in bubble wrap in a plastic blow up bag, but then in a cardboard box, surrounded by polystyrene, not an HP box as per usual. When I took the cartridge out, there was yellow toner over it, making me think it had been refilled.

Print quality is very faint and unacceptable. This is a genuine hp cartridge but is in a blue box not a black one. This means it is old stock and the toner has deteriorated to the point of being unusable. Amazon will be required to refund under the sale of goods act in the UK, despite their draconian and unfriendly policy. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!

Unlike all the identical HP cartridges Ive bought for this printer previously, with this one printing was hopelessly faint. When replaced by the previous cartridge, which wasn't quite empty, printing was fine again. HP user group confirms cartridge is defective. Because it's a standard product from (in my experience) a highly regarded quality supplier I didn't fit it to the printer till a few days after Amazon's returns window. Despite the supplier's website stating the full consumer law provisions apply ie. fit for purpose, they doesn't respond. One star only because the system won't accept zero stars.

Purchased 2 at same time. One fine and used first. Second manufactured incorrectly. One part is at an angle so unusable. Another piece not aligned properly. Unsealed too late to return for refund. Not happy.

Purchased ahead of need to ensure continued working, when installed into the Laser printer the quality of print is appalling, so light its unreadable. Looks like its a faulty or fake product. As its more than 28 days since purchase it cannot be returned. A £11 second market product is working as the £72. HP original should have
