Good for the price
So I can see why some of the people may think this is not perilla seeds, but it is. This is cheap and is a whole pound bag. It does not necessarily mean their perilla seeds are bad quality, but it does mean the powder is coarse not fine. The finer the powder, the better tasting it will be in your recipes.I’d recommend you to sift it though a couple of times. The color will get lighter which means the powder color will get lighter too. You’re taking more layers out of the seed and leaving just mostly the inside that golden yellow. So, idk those who got sick probably are allergic to it but I can confirm this indeed is a perilla seed powder bag

If it turns out not have any oil then it is useless to me since I wanted it for the oil
UPDATE: I place some of the powder in a container with 99% Isopropyl alcohol stirred well and let the alcohol evaporate. The result was a layer of obviously fatty material so I think there is oil in the product. That said: This meal has little taste and I don't really like it as much as I do raw flax meal which tastes better.I've given it 4 stars only because I prefer flax meal flavor to this. I do think the vendor and mfgr need to get that label fixed though.Old review follows.Ok, I think the label may be wrong as it says there are 0 mg oil in the powder. This may be the case if the powder is left over from an oil extraction process but otherwise there should be perilla oil in the seed even if it has been powderized. I'm giving this a one star pending resolution of this issue. If it turns out not have any oil then it is useless to me since I wanted it for the oil. I've added a photo of the label.

Not the korean flavor u want
This tastes very bad and not like perilla. If u want to make gamjatang or korean soup get the white powder. This ain't it, I threw it out

Doesn’t taste good
This doesn’t have much of the unique perilla seed powder taste. I won’t recommend

not edible
I grew up in Korea and I know what perilla seeds powder tastes like. This one isn't even edible. I had to throw away the whole bag.
