Bosch Chainsaw UniversalChain 35

I've been impressed by this chainsaw, I've used it to saw up about 4m^3 of logs and once I got the technique, it was brilliant, remember to also get some chainsaw oil for it (I bought Bosch biodegradeable oil, £15, used about 1/2 L so far). The logs were in some bases up to 15 inch diameter. Its much smoother if you engage the teeth at the front of it and then sort of pivot it down through the log, minimal hand vibration. Its also pretty quiet compared to a petrol one. I've always been a fan of all things Bosch. Do make sure you get the right personal protective equipment if you buy it as it has serious potential to injure you, I got some Oregon chainsaw trousers, also used my safety boots, plus got a faceshield & chainsaw gloves. I also watched a few Youtube videos to understand some of the things to avoid, eg understanding what kickback is & how to avoid it.

First ever chainsaw so was worried this wouldn’t be good purchase.Used to remove 3ft off overgrown hedge that hedge trimmer couldn’t deal with.Quality and powerful, chain came off a few times but this was probably just me getting used to using it and having the correct tension on the chain. Stops instantly so very important for safety.

Nowhere near the standard of professional equipment, but perfect for a DIYer like me doing a few jobs per year. I wouldn't use on anything that was more than about 8 inches in diameter.Can get clogged from time to time so keep an eye on that.

Very good chain saw with excellent safety feature at a very low price

I only purchased this item because I had one particular bush that had become overgrown and I didn't fancy using a manual saw to trim it down to a manageable size. First assembly was pretty straightforward, took a while to get the chain straight but again pretty simple. Using the chainsaw was easy after reading instructions and the saw handled my problem tree with no issue, the cable length was good in conjunction with a extension cable and was easy to put away. There are a few other things I think this chainsaw will come in handy for and another great Bosch product.

Not sure why I did not buy some thing like this. It was so helpful for my recent garden work cutting the tree.Managed to do it my self as no one would come and they were asking for thousands of pounds.I could cut all branches easily. Not sure how long the chain will last.

I bought this less than 6 months ago and have used it a few times to chop down some decent sized branches / bushes.When it’s working it is pretty damn good. It’s nowhere near as powerful as a decent petrol chainsaw but it does what I need it for and it costs significantly lesss than a petrol one.It does have an Achilles heal as I’ve mentioned in the title and this is to do with the chain tensioner. It’s is a plastic / nylon device that you turn then lock off to get the right tension of the chain. The problem is that it can easily be damaged. I was following the instructions religiously as I always do and regularly checked to make sure the tension was correct on the chain as it does loosen during use. And one time i came to tighten it, it refused to go past a certain point and the chain was still loose. On inspecting the mechanism, the red nylon wheel that is used to provide the tension was damaged. I needed to finish the job so managed to smooth out the groove with my dremel but then have had to order a replacement part. This was over £30.I should add I have lots of Bosch garden and normal tools and am pretty happy with them but I do feel that Bosch have lowered to quality bar in recent times especially in their mainstream user products. Therefore, if you’re happy that the item won’t last forever then the price is attractive. If you want something quality that will last for years then I would look elsewhere.
