I’m happy with this Rust-Oleum automotive sandable primer. It was easy to apply and provided good coverage. It sands smoothly and helped create an even surface before applying paint. It’s a useful product for small automotive repair and DIY projects. Overall, good quality for the price.

I recently switched from a grey primer to Rust-Oleum’s black sandable primer for all my 3D-printed helmets and props, and I’m genuinely impressed. First off, the price is great—this 12-ounce can won’t break the bank, even when you’re covering full-size pieces. I sprayed two light coats on a full-scale helmet and still had plenty left over for a half-scale mask, which felt like a real bargain compared to other brands I’ve tried. What really sold me was the spray consistency. The aerosol tip delivers a smooth, even mist every time—no sputtering, no drips, no frustrating runs to sand out later. Even on tricky curves and recessed details, the primer settles perfectly, filling in light layer lines without obscuring fine sculpting. It’s forgiving enough that you don’t need perfect technique to get a great result. But the best part? The deep matte black finish makes imperfections practically leap out at you once you start sanding. Any high spots, pinholes, or rough patches are instantly obvious against the dark background—something I missed for years when using lighter greys. It’s really important to use a primer on metal to get the tooth down into the metal and the acid edge of this primer removes any type of oxidation coating between sanding the metal cleaning the metal and getting the metal painted so you get a good bond. this worked well on the finish ended up being very nice

This stuff is garbage .It cracks as it dries making a lot of extra work sanding this crap
