DOES run on Linux <3
Instructions and documentation online says it cannot be run from linux, this is technically incorrect as it works great out of the box with K40 Whisper (python based). I have the laser running better/easier than included software from a $10 Pi Zero W. The included software is very clunky and requires a USB Key to run their modified Corel Draw software. K40 Whisper is a wonderful replacement with a headless Pi accessed via VNC. Before lasering, in K40 ensure you do a Move To X: 58 Y: -33, this will position the head right to the mounting bracket.

Beyond expectation.
I rarely leave feedback, but I felt I had to. I had read all the horror stories about the quality control of this item and was prepared for quite a bit of DIY tinkering to get it up and running. I was thrilled to have the engraver delivered within 3 days of ordering it, double boxed with plenty of foam protection. When I opened it up, all the parts were in perfect condition. After setting up the vent fan and water pump, I attempted a test burn to see how much work I would have to do to align the mirrors. Imagine my surprise when the test burn was a perfect tiny hole. It is clear that the system was inspected at the factory, as there was still some residual fluid in the water lines. My only issue is that the software on the CD would not load. Fortunately, I had an old version of corel draw and was able to download the corellaser plugin. I was successfully engraving within 90 min of unboxing, and had so much fun burning stuff with a frigging laser beam I stayed up till 2 am. I still need to experiment with settings, but I was able to engrave on slate, and cut cardboard with remarkably fine cuts. All in all, I was beyond impressed. I expected based on other reviews here on amazon, and on reports from those who purchased on ebay, that this would be a project in and of itself but the engraver came ready to run out of the box. I chose to buy it on amazon for the prospect of easy return and I'm happy to say that I don't anticipate having to return it.

Perfect for a hobby minded individual, and don’t over expect performance.
Well, I was pleasantly surprised. I bought knowing that they may be some issues to deal with, but I really had none. I had it unpacked, and running within a couple of hours. I was making the first test burn shortly after final checks, and familiarizing myself with the software. With that being said, some of the purchasers I feel are expecting $4000 dollar performance for $400 dollars. This is somewhat unfair. This machine is a nice machine even with the included software. I think it works well enough for most folks. I feel that if you are wanting to start a business be prepared to spend more money. However, this unit could get small “business” projects a boost to see if this is for you. I mostly purchased this unit for hobby use, and to do some money making projects with it. For that it’s unbeatable. I have made more handy items, and small hobby project items quickly, and accurately. It’s like a 3D printer, it’s just handy.

A great "first laser" to learn on.

Works Great with trotec Trolase Lights labels.
I use this to make identification stickers for our company equipment so that if our customers have an issue they have the information needed to call in. I use this with trotec Trolase Lights labels, and it works very well. The software on the included CD did not work but I was able to find a download link online for the LaserDRW software which I use to create my labels. I imported a BMP image and created some text with a little effort (hint use a template and modify it).The labels are 3in by 3in and take around 20 minutes to create.I am using an old laptop with Windows XP SP3 and it runs the software without issue.I have included pictures and a short video of my setup. The label comparison is a Zebra thermal printer on the left and the Laser on the right.

Very good starter laser! Not for big buisness mass production!
This is my first laser. I got it to start a small business and will eventually upgrade in the future. For a small production or one off machine, this is great. Now you have to understand the capabilities and of course limitations. Don't use the provided software to run it, use inkscape and k40 whisper it is far better and a lot more dynamic. I've been using for about 4 months and so far no problems. The mirrors came preallined out of the box so just download the software and go.Tips:- Set k40 to move the head to x 2.250 and y -1.250, that is the zero point of the cutting bay.-the blower fan is terrible, replace with a good one for good ventilation-plug the water pump into a outlet on the wall, the outlets on the machine is very bad and won't hold the plug in.-glass engravings run best at 12% and wood run ~9% (depending on speed) bare metal don't show no mater the power, painted metal runs ~9%So far I've made a lot of money off this machine and will be modifying it further to better fit my needs

Fairly easy to unbox and set up
Arrived in a timely manner, well packaged for shipping. Fairly easy to unbox and set up. However, the like most users, the lack of instructions for the software or actual use of the laser are lacking. Had to search you tube for answers. But so far has been fun to play with and hope to learn more control for the laser as I go.Update. After less than a month of use the laser is now non functional. Trying to contact seller but no luck yet.

Great Laser For The Money!
These get a pretty bad rep sometimes and I know they have their flaws but you are getting a laser for dirt cheap. You have to know a bit about how lasers work and how to draw and use vector based software for creating the art you want to cut. But there is a ton of information available on the web about how to mod, fix, and maintain these. I strongly suggest going with k40 whisperer and inkscape as opposed to the janky illegal cracked software that came on that flash drive included in the setup. k40 whisperer makes for easy operation of this machine.

Great Laser, better than expected.
The laser has been working very well, and had more features than I expected (LED lighting inside, the "water break" sensor checks for water flow before the laser can be powered). The software has set up and is easy to use. The only problem is the laser tube began to lose power and the tube will require replacement, however the seller has been great in working to get a replacement laser tube to me!update: the seller was great at getting a replacement laser tube sent to me and it is up and running again as good as new. If i could give 6 stars for the customer service, i would. There are a few places to buy these lasers online but i am glad i went with this seller.
