Vic Firth Bass Drum Beater - VKB4 Cajon

Enough softness to protect the wood of the cajon and also produce a good bass sound. Great product!!

Purchased 2 to use with my double kick practice pad. I was hoping it might be a little quieter, but it is better than the normal beaters for sure. Feel is good and durability looks to be good based on quality. Plus, would definitely use on a cajon for future use if the need arises. May even try on my regular kick for a rare jazz gig.

Word to the wise: I haven't been able to try out this new pedal...I was so excited but I am crestfallen at the moment. The metal shaft is slightly too wide for my bass pedal clamp. My options are to return the cajon pedal, buy a new bass pedal assembly that is compatible with the Vic Firth cajon pedal, or -- drill out the clamp. I don't have the time or money for the first two options. I'm hoping to drill out the clamp to widen it. However this will remove the enamel inside the clamp. which is then going to affect the longevity of the shaft of the pedal because of the increased friction on the pedal shaft. .

Soft touch/rebound but big sound if buried

This is just what my son was looking for to play his Cajon as a kick drum.

These beaters do not stand up to any sort of regular use. I've played drums for 20+ years and I've never had two fail within a month of use. In fact, I've never had a beater fail because they're normally well constructed. I recently purchased a Roland electric drum set and heard that using regular bass drum beaters will tear up the mesh, so it was recommended I get a foam or soft material beater for my double bass pedal. I also bought an Evans EQ bass drum patch for extra protection.The washer on top is not threaded. Two of them failed in the same way - the washer broke off during play. I'd usually fix something like this myself with some super glue but that probably won't last for long so I tried to return and find something better. Given that I'm just out of the return window for Amazon, I've had to contact Vic Firth to see if there is anything they can do. Their drum sticks are great but these drum beaters are not.This is your warning - do not use these for an electric drum set! Do not use them unless you're playing acoustic or pianissimo and even then I'd be skeptical they will hold up long term.
